In 1955, Zenith introduced the Flash-matic: world's first wireless remote control, so people wouldnt need to have a really long wire connecting their remote to their television.

I watched their demo video of a family getting ready, and it just makes me feel liek this device is an intrusion into my life. If you take a second to think about each of the use cases they demonstrate, you start to realise they pretty much add nothing to your life. Maybe it'll save you a few seconds in the morning by not having to get the door or find a paper recipe, but all of those things make the activity more enjoyable IMO. I'd wanna watch that kid at the door squirm in real life, not spy on him with a camera. Meh, maybe I'm old fashioned.

The funniest part is that The Telegraph is simultaneously running articles on how the billionaires are leaving UK because of tax.

I pay my doctor for medical advice. If a doctor paid me to take their medical advice, I would be very concerned.

I have a pair of jeans where Levi's has inexplicably decided to use buttons instead of a zipper. Why??? It's a struggle every time i go to a urinal.

Walden, by Henry David Therou. Written by a man who got tired of modern life and decided to live in a hut in the woods. Written in the 1850s.

Full of lovely lines such as “I hear they’re building a telegraph line from Maine to Texas. Have they stopped to ask, does Texas have anything to say to Maine?”

That price may be wishful thinking. Aren’t even their base ear buds $130?

I don't think Nokia deserves all this hate. Sure, they made mistakes, but it wasn't entirely unfeasible to assume that the mobile phone market had matured in terms of features, and the next big thing was going to be "phones as fashion statements." When you think about it, prior to the phone, everything people carried on them everyday was some sort of fashion statement. Clothes, glasses, jewllery, watches, handbags, backpacks etc. I think they assumed that the phone was like the watch; peaked functionally, but room to grow in terms of form.

Ah yes, they’re just rouge AI that we built, so it’s not like a malicious human at our company did it, it’s totally different, no one needs to go to jail for hacking peoples health data.

Btw, when we train AI on everybody’s work, it’s just like a human learning, so the same rules should apply.

LLMs are shrodinger’s humans.
