I completely agree and I think smart companies also understand this. There is still a lot of leverage employees have, especially in tech. Tech as "adult daycare" isn't a meme for no reason.

We aren't talking about the API. We're talking about the model names. If someone fires up the OpenAI website to ask it a question, nobody knows what the names mean. That's what normal people do and are probably super confused at what is going on.

That’s the issue - this isn’t an engineering problem, it’s a general consumer problem. It’s what focus groups full of regular people are for.

For some reason, this is just hilarious to me. Idk if you're being serious or if this is passive aggressive but the thought of OAI actually taking advice from a random HNer and basing their naming scheme off that is peak.

Ngl, I've been on Opus 5.5 but had to switch to open for a while. DSv4/Minimax 3.1 were pretty damn good/comparable. Definitely not the same but completely servicable.

I was honestly surprised at how good it was, would recommend if you have any interest at all. I played ME 1 - 3 then Andromeda in a row and Andromeda took the #2 spot behind ME 1.

I've bought Minecraft, Skyrim and KotOR (I/II) on at least 3 different devices, I would say that's residual.

User since 2011 and you’re asking this question?

That's not necessarily true. The point of war is to force control. You can force control without killing people. Economically, psychologically, digitally, etc. Killing people is one of the ways but not the only way to wage war.

There are different avenues of "solving" something though. Asking an LLM to one shot something vs iterating on it collaboratively are different ways of achieve potentially different ends.

If the result is black and white, then yeah, its probably not super fruitful but if the end result is subjective, then there really no is objective "solve".

LLMs are not feeding us things, we are asking it and getting answers. This dialectic I think is super powerful and it still requires the human to ask questions and continue expanding intellectual curiosity to go down the rabbit hole and discover. LLMs are just an incredible rubber duck but the discovery is still there.

I haven't seen AI taking any jobs yet, maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
