And now the name 'sidewinder' makes perfect sense

"I come to bury SO, not to praise it"

.. something.. something

"The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones"

))))))) isn't so bad, but )))))))) is just getting ridiculous. You have to draw the line somewhere

Put "Koenig" in that.

Or even "notorp". Notorps could have been a thing.

Studying the constellations and learning the sky is a great way to get a visceral sense of our place in the universe. When you can't tell one patch of sky from another, the brain doesn't need a fancy model for the reality of it, and you can go around with a kind of subconscious "flat sky" in your head. But when you start to piece the constellations together, and it all connects up around you, that's transformative. Space stops being something that's "up there", and becomes a thing that surrounds you. It's a strange sensation when it first hits you, and well worth the time to achieve it.

Absolutely smashing article! This kind of quality item is what makes HN worthwhile.

There was a popular (then, anyway) notion that drinking a large glass of water would kill hiccups, and it sometimes seemed to work, but other times it didn't. Long story short, it works when you swallow at just the right time relative to the hiccup cycle. An ordinary swallow starts as a voluntary action but switches over to an automatic involuntary completion. Try to get that start of the involuntary part to happen in the last quarter of the hiccup cycle, a bit before the hiccup arrives. You don't even need to use water, just time a swallow just right and it cancels out the hiccup cycle from retriggering.

Over an hour of over the shoulder view of someone running their development environment, with mild jazz for audio. Screen is too small and changing to fast to really inform.

Maybe stay for the jazz.

The two Matildas in particular!
