I only came to this conclusion by finding myself in it, maybe "self-worth" would've been a better way to describe it than identity.

Do you need more of an example other than what we are seeing now?

> And when you fail, or are slow to progress, and particularly when you can't acquire the requisite skill required for, and deal with external factors related to, monetizing your craft, people say, "Oh, you just didn't try hard enough. You weren't smart enough. You weren't passionate enough."

Underneath a lot of this is just an identity crisis, as a large portion of white-collar workers are facing the harsh reality that who they are was ultimately defined by what they do between 9-6pm.

Not everyone learns from reading LLM output and multiple rounds of human explanation are still highly valuable.

I fail to understand, in its current state, the mass hysteria around this revolution. Maybe I'm doing this wrong, but I constantly need to review and manage my agents, are we really headed to a reality where engineering mindsets are no longer needed?

I began programming as means to express myself artistically, but over time, it became more of a way to value myself instead. AI is helping me get back to the former, and with that I have peace.

I think this is a really good idea; I usually do this for about a month until I tell myself my time is better spent building or playing something that I don't have to convince myself that I truly enjoy.

I am a lead developer working in Cyber Security. We are just now integrating co-pilot reviews into our pipeline to help speed along the initial review process and weed out any surface level bugs. We still have no agentic coding, and I'm not sure we will for at least another year. I have advocated to modernize and keep up with modern tooling to no avail.

Hotfixes would go down by probably 50 to 60%. On a bi-weekly release rotation it was not abnormal to see 4 to 5 hot fix versions. In the past year, however, it is not uncommon to do 15 hotfix builds per release.

20%, do we just make numbers up?

I know it can be a deep time sink, but I notice more and more how much deeper my understanding is of a certain problem/best-practice after developing the neuropathways involved in crawling between reddit, stack overflow, etc, to get to the proper solution. I love the instant answer from google ai, but I also notice an itch to purposefully force myself to ignore it when time allows.

Used to love this site back when you could see what other craftsmen were actually creating by hand.
