Someone explain how we’re getting out of this poor situation we’ve created.

There’s a non zero chance we create AGI, it catches up on the latest news, and genuinely believes the solution to save Earth is to subjugate humanity to some degree to prevent humanity from nuking itself.

Of course super low chance, but the AI bubble has somehow started right around when 3 major wars popped up, globalism/immigration problems peaking, and the post-WW2 world order crumbling all within 3-5 years.

Nice read. American media does a terrible job of covering this.

Pop tarts contain like 100 (hyperbole) different types of elements/molecules/chemicals in them lmao they’re mass manufactured in a factory.

Very different from some basic corn flakes or bread being mass produced.

I can’t believe we’ve normalized anti depressants as a society.

I’m about to get downvoted into oblivion for this take though.

I’m not trying to discount mental health, I just think there are better solutions than drugs to fix your state of mind.

Also think that some people are dealt a tougher hand than most, and that for a small subset of humans, anti depressants are the most fitting cure.

There absolutely was damage.

The damage was at a sociological/behavioral level and thus difficult to measure.

Yeah I think a lot of folks in the west suffer from cognitive dissonance when it comes to animals, the meat industry, and morals.

Curious what dog meat even tastes like / why someone would choose dog meat over beef/pork/chicken.

Man I wish I could downvote a comment. This is what you’d see on Reddit.

“Thankless job” is a crazy way to describe United Healthcare.

No one cares about insurance companies and their profits?? This doesn’t even make sense, so many people rely on insurance and many stakeholders profit off the American insurance system.

Feels like common sense to avoid energy drinks.

The best case is it does no harm.

Im definitely in the minority but there’s just zero value to me in drinking an energy drink. If you need energy that bad, there’s several options that are less artificial with similar effects.

I’ve tasted a Celsius here and there, don’t get me wrong. I get the appeal, but it’s just silly to not consider the health effects. I’m also anti-syrup and sodas so I’m a bit odd I guess.

Really grateful for people like Wang making an effort to deter this behavior.

Hoping more folks like him defend the guardrails.

ill-incentives have always influenced academia, but I’m hoping we’re able to walk it back a bit

VR is gonna be insane once hardware catches up. It’s the natural next frontier imo.

I’m a sucker for math visualizations on a website. They’re always sick.

Surprised that YCombinator threads are misunderstanding palantir, of all forums…

I’ve always been baffled by how far they were able to get being a straight wrapper. They’re doing incredible tbh.

There are so many wrappers. I feel like companies that are propped up by wrappers will always be competing against basic features being released by <insert AI company>. Wrappers also just feel low effort.
