its hard to believe that this world even exists, that people out there run around thinking these sorts of things. but it does and they do.

US courts stated that humanism is a form of religion... i bet that gets overturned pretty fast if this takes off.

guardslop?

ps: if this technique gains traction and starts to hurt llm's, govt will just declare it illegal, as they always do in situations like this that hurt big$

or better yet, "illegal without a license" !!!

I dont know any worker that intentionally chooses a job they dislike unless they need a survival job, and people doing survival jobs generally put it low effort. Programming requires high levels of effort and concentration and it would'nt be my first choice of survival job. If ALL the interesting parts of a programmers job disappear, then I guess the job is over unless you like typing prompts all day.

can this be done manually by setting constants till the images look rectified? last time i played with opencv for this it didnt do a very good job at automatically calculating the k's. im hoping an algo comes out that lets me do disparity without calibration one day :)

you may not be aware of it but society largely runs on the results of maths, clueless indeed. and regulated or not, if there are financial savings to be made anyone can be shoved under the bus.

I respect Grant for doing things his way and in this video making an earnest attempt to analyse the situation from many perspectives. Well done.

I always believed he paid them well because his factories were an offense to their skill-set and he had to compensate them for being so bored

at the beginning of the 20th C when ford implemented the moving factory line, experienced mechanics disliked the new way of doing things but did it because it payed well. they werent using a lot of their skill set and their job could be replaced relatively easily. many many industries in our current economic system will be facing this now. if you can tell me which ones are immune im all ears.

So it seems mathematics is a perfect playground for LLM's to show off their abilities. Is this the end of mathematics done by humans? probably.. but that still wont stop some people from going into the field, just like whats happening to computer programming. I find it strange that the two fields LLM's are built on are the two its trying hardest to replace humans in. Why will we have to teach mathematics / computing to the majority of kids at school anymore if we don't need a workforce competent in those skills? Will we just teach kids how to type fast so they can get the prompt in asap?

edit: also ive noticed when i ask llms maths questions they tend to introduces overly complicated things that arent relevant or make the problem harder. so maybe we will teach kids the basics of maths and how to interpret results? i am unsure.

re-read this a day later and ofc it still makes sense to me but really most of it is barking up the wrong tree, focusing on solutions (which we already know) rather than outputs. if i could delete it i would but oh well.

when israel and america both went on their insane run through gaza, venezuela and iran, the second thing i thought after feeling sorry for those people, was feeling sorry for israelis and americans. its going to be a rough ride getting out of this for both nations' people.

edit: and indeed the west in general, that has largely said and done nothing while watching events unfold.
