HN tips:

# Anything GrapheneOS

Don't bother engaging in anything but sycophancy in posts/comments. They're watching. Not worth the mass karma hit/unjustified flags. Look at the 'grapheneos' and 'strcat' HN account history - a ton of reply-spam, constant accusations of being a victim, very little genuine conversation to be had.

Obvious GOS 'fans' who show up to every GOS post include: other8026, HybridStatAnim8, microtonal

On their Discord people are invited to opt-in to "to mentions for help addressing inaccurate media coverage of GrapheneOS". [0]

And on their Mastadon they have previously specifically asked followers to manipulate HN.

# Posts critical of big tech (FAANG etc)

They'll likely have a long top-level comment along the lines of "let me explain why this isn't quite right/not as bad as it seems". Just skip over that

I said /easier/ to pair up and I didn't say they shouldn't have their own friends.

I'm not a parent and a bit autistic so excuse the unemotional reply but surely there are other ways not to have anxiety about your children surely?:

Teach independence/self-defence/street smarts, encourage weight lifting for older kids, therapy/meditation for yourself (some anxiety is natural of course!), move to a safer city, have more children (easier to pair them up on adventures, plus less subconscious physiological fear of losing your one and only child), distract yourself and stay busy, go with them to places the first few times to assure yourself then take off your training wheels. Or just say no to certain things.

It doesn't seem to me a special case of anxiety that can only be addressed by spy apps and knowing you might be able to instantly contact them.

AI is killing companies in all kind of evil ways

It's like the AI bros have handed out a cocktail of cocaine, benzos and fent to tech CEOs. They're hooked and going mad

You don't have to keep all your email there. Could keep recent emails, and archive the rest somewhere else. mbsync etc

Just to clarify: Christine Lagarde hasn't quit as in quit today, rather, she announced she will resign in February, 9 months before the end of her term.

They've done clickbait for quite a bit longer. They love testing different headlines too. And pushing out a short article then updating it as they go

It's well beyond time to move on from holding up the BBC as the pinnacle of journalistic integrity. (I'm a Brit, not a Russian troll :)

The BBC keeps repeating this inaccuracy and at this stage I wonder if it's deliberate:

> The driver replies, "At normal speed?" To which the controller says: "Yes."

That is not how the conversation went. The driver reads back the order from the controller, saying "at normal speed? Hm okay agreed / understood" then the controller starts wrapping up the conversation

ie the driver did not really question the order and it was barely a questioning tone (I write without judgement)

You only need intermediate Spanish to understand that part of the clip. The BBC has no excuse to be honest as I'm sure they have plenty of native speakers on hand

Whether it's a material difference I'm not sure, but the BBC should be more accurate

> a country with a notoriously poor lifestyle and equally poor diet involving foods full of additives

Is mostly true for the UK too

I saw a 'diabetes isn't your fault' campaign poster at my GP surgery today. I shook my head! (no mentioning T1 vs T2, so the message is obvious)
