I think his point is that (a) it's hard to say meth is that much worse than other hard drugs like heroin or crack, and (b) over-the-counter meth that's of a guaranteed potency and without adulterants might not be as harmful to the user as the bluish, vinegar-smelling stuff your second cousin Skeeter cooks up.

A neat exercise for anyone who thinks Wikipedia isn't a useful reference is to pick ten random subjects from Encyclopedia Britannica and see how many of them have an article in Wikipedia. (Answer is most likely "all of them".) Then do the opposite:

Space Flight Operations Center (in wiki but not E.B.) Hypertrocta (in wiki but not E.B.) Sokół motorcycles (in wiki but not E.B.) Paradeudorix petersi (in wiki but not E.B.) Bella Voce (in wiki but not E.B.) ...and so on...

Now there is a certain amount of vandalism, rumor, political skew, etc. so you should take what you read in Wikipedia with a grain of salt, but at least it's there. Most of the time it will point you to a more authoritative source in case you think someone's being deceptive about Osage oranges.

I wonder if universal basic income is going to change the ad hoc basic income we already have in place -- the one where I'm supporting my retired parents, my wife, and my pre-workforce kid.

Not sure if anyone in the know is reading and wants to comment on this, but even if bacterial cells are exchanging messages, do they have connections back to other specific cells or are they just broadcasting to the local soup? If it's the latter, then it's definitely not going to function like neurons.

What really counts is happiness over time, with things like time dealing with diabetic loved ones factored in. Did anyone measure that one? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how fat you are if you had a good time and it didn't cost too much.

Simple: Use the device until the batteries fail, then slip on the Batterizer[TM] and use it some more.
