No you see this is my entire point. It's not that you read Heilein and you liked this word and so you started using it, that's bullshit. People very very rarely do something unusual like this, like using a weird word that they know nobody will understand.

In reality what happened is that you saw other people, people that you like and admire, saying grok and you copied them. You're copying the superficialities thinking that makes you closer in substance. It's cargo cult science for people.

It marks you as wanting to belong to a certain tribe for sure, even if the definition of that tribe has been excised from the originator of the term: people use it because they see people that they admire or want to be like using it. In trump's case the tribe is about trump, in Heinlein's case the tribe isn't about Heinlein.

Like people walk around with their pants around their knees because they see that thugs wear them like that and they dream about being thugs. Or people who call each other "bro".

These are also normally people who weight the style more than the substance.

Interestingly, maths isn't really like that.

What do you mean, "if true"?

Doesnt matter if Microsoft and meta are pushing employees towards their own models today. What matters is that it's the economically sensible direction, and so it will happen if it's not today.

> "when two extraordinarily improbably events occur together, there is probably a connection”.

You're implying that the virus got out of the lab without saying it.

Where you tricked yourself is you have a line so catchy it stops scrutiny.

Maybe the two are connected, but what's the cause and what's the effect? Maybe they built the lab in Wuhan because there's a lot of undiscovered Corona viruses in Wuhan...?

> I know a guy who works at Amazon, and the models at OpenAI and Anthropic are so good that he doesn’t even really write code in the classic sense anymore

"I know a guy", what a weird thing to say in October 2026. I don't think I know anyone who still writes code in the classic sense.

Do you even understand what you're suggesting? Do you understand how the data flow would look like without a kv cache?

If they start doing that, everybody will finally see that they're just a car company and their stock will be priced like one.
