I live in a forest, i do entropy and electromagnetic research for fun, and i help run a couple of compute clusters and HA pools for fun, research, and profit.

I like hearing stories, and sometimes telling them. I haven't worked for FAANG in any capacity.

I prefer Gentoo, without systemd. email: hncontact et wispla.com

In N Out has a much smaller footprint, so there is scarcity going for them. In a suburb of los angeles, there might be an in and out in your town or a neighboring one. There were sometimes a dozen or two McDonalds, BK, Carl's, Taco bell, Del Taco, Jack in the box, etc - multiples of each. 1 In N Out for 3-4 cities, but potentially 6-12 of each of the others.

I think that explains it. The singular Carl's Jr in a nearby city was always busy, for a similar reason. it closed during covid, for whatever reason, and the next nearest one is at least 2 hours away. Compared to the 6 McDonald's in my metro: 4 Taco Bell, 3 Whataburgers, 5 Wendy's, and 4 Open BKs out of 7 that were open prior to 2020.

The Raising Cane's is always packed to bursting, too, because there's only 1 in the area.

bigger influencers can pay money to get a list of companies that will drive more engagement when mentioned in a video, as the list is updated!

who cares, though? they have to expend effort to filter their data if they don't want to give the wrong impression to the people giving them money. It increases friction.

I can't tell if it's adnauseam or the fact i use ipv6 that gets me to click traffic lights and busses all the time, but i don't care, click those ads!

counterpoint: The "adblocker" AdNauseam. not only does it fetch every ad, it clicks them. every single ad is clicked. It keeps a running tally of how much money it's cost advertisers.

So, it is war, then.

> "I have the right to personally bear arms against the government to protect my property.".

i never made that claim. "that's what they call a strawman" - Poli-sci Ph.D.

so you say that there's a difference between "the people" in the second amendment and "the people" of the 4th amendment. Can you back that up at all?

> The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,

are these the same people? so only the militia gets to be secure? Are you sure?

I notice you put a semicolon there. You forgot to put the rest:

> the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

what does "the people" mean to you?

This is not correct. to the best of my memory, no year since the 90s has had more than 100 or 200 total officer fatalities in the line of duty. Police routinely kill 3 people a day.

it's a pretty high bar to say that all three people the police kill every day were warranted.

most line of duty deaths involve not wearing a seatbelt.

don't worry, Axon wants to put all 90,000 CCTV cameras into a database for dragnets, too. And i'm sure there will be startups, possibly even mentioned here, that want the same thing.

There's a lot of money in cyberstalking and real stalking. see: Facebook's valuation

chronological feed nuisances can be blocked or not followed in the first place. It is absolutely not an algorithm by the definition we're all using here.

It is an algorithm on a data structure, but it is not an algorithm to drive ad impressions.

do you see the difference?

this is why people say "Algo" when talking about the latter, and "Algorithm" when talking with other like-minded people about data structures and algorithms.
