If it were 5 years ago I'd have the same reaction, but today it's fairly simple to setup a single node deployment with minikube or k3s, and LLM makes it very easy to maintain deployments.

Maybe good devs attain success with agents because they are wary of it, keeps them on their toes while maintaining a productivity boost.

Yes, you look at stars, issues and activity to infer trust, but there is no accountability, the licenses are clear about that that software is distributed as is

What's even good these days? Toyota, VW, Audi, what else?

I see these comments a about future repairability and I wonder if Americans had the same general wary feeling when adopting Tesla cars.

How does opensource software work when nobody is accountable when I run software from GitHub?

This is the exact mentality behind corporate software and why nobody gets fired for using IBM, Oracle, Azure...

Accountability is a poor proxy for quality because there are so many ways to frame an incident never those responsible really get accountable.

Software works because developers care about the product. If something goes wrong the entire team is accountable, so they work together on something as one.

Yes there were many contradictions in the COP summit, but this is exactly what it's for so the world can understand the actual challenges other countries go through which takes the backseat when these meetings are held in rich countries.

Aren't orbiting stations and satellites part of planet earth's space?

It makes no sense to imagine this hypothetical scenario and compare it to reality, you have to imagine a similar world with a OS authority, but it only gets updated every 6 months. Which is worse in the worse case? I'd say the one with the lower blast radius.

But this abstract exercise is only to highlight the importance of Apple getting its shit together, because such a scenario exists with Windows and the culture of downloading exes and msis and it's honestly way worse than having a central but responsible authority.

In turn the centralized OS authority needs proper maintenance otherwise it's just as bad if not worse, because of the larger blast radius

Ok, "neocolonialism" where there's no alternative but to take the deal. Nobody's forced but with consequences set the right way there's no need to.

That's not how risk management works, you don't disregard one because another is higher, because risk compose. At the end of the day you'll be in a car accident coming from a surgery you didn't need.
