That's basically it in a nutshell.

All the people who think that LLMs are superhuman weren't very good at their jobs to begin with.

Yes, LLMs will be able to do things faster than a human. They're computer programs, that's the point. But LLMs only produce higher quality output than the humans who didn't learn how to do the tasks well.

You don't want BYD cars. Those unreliable POSs have a useful life shorter than a cellphone.

At one point, BYD was the top choice of EV buses in the U.S. They were blacklisted by every transit agency in America even before Trump's order because their vehicles were less reliable than the 40+ year old buses they were replacing.

For $20 I can get a nice burger at a sit-down establishment, and be finished eating the burger before the Doordash delivery would have arrived.

What does the 2000 election have to do with this?

As a counterpoint, I ask the big llms every month the same set of tax questions about the last US tax bill and they still can't give me the correct answers.

I started my career fixing the mistakes that my clients' former tax advisers made. It looks like the next generation of tax lawyers will get to do the same except this time the former advisers will be llms.

Sudden terminations without cause are legal.

Mass terminations without timely notice, or pay in lieu of notice, are not. Disguising a mass termination as a collection of "performance" based individual terminations is a method that many companies have tried and failed, because...get this...WARN regulations in the US and EU don't care about the reasons for termination unless it's a "for cause" termination and you absolutely need to document the cause for those.

While I was being facetious, Anthropic is nowhere close to being profitable in the normal, i.e., GAAP meaning of the term. It's only using unicorn fantasy lalaland financials that they are "profitable."

Before someone else jumps in talking about "unit economics": unit economics only matters if you can sell the units long enough to make the initial (capitalized) investment (i.e., R&D) back. Models aren't commercially viable long enough for the unit economics to work.

Microwaves were popular from the beginning after residential models became avaliable in the 1960s.

That explains the 80 Billion loss on their IPO disclosures.

The worst case scenario is not taking the offer then getting let go for performance, which means zero severance, health insurance terminated same day.

That's generally not legal in the U.S. or most of the EU. The company would have to establish a very significant paper trail to establish that these individual "performance-based" layoffs were not part of a layoff subject to WARN regulations (or their European equivalents which are even stricter). The hurdle is so large that no company has successfully pulled off such a feat, and many of the companies that tried ended up paying significantly more in penalties to their local Depts of Labor than they would have saved with this stunt.

It already is treated as a constructive dismissal for employees for which remote work was a defined benefit or condition of the job (this is assumed if the employee works outside of the metropolitan area of the company). This has been discussed to death outside of the tech community for almost 6 years.

1) Yes. 2) No. 3) Yes.

Given how abysmal Copilot was/is, and how buggy their software has become this year, it's clear that they aren't reaping any benefits from AI usage internally.

CT is literally the worst truck on the market. Less cargo space than a Maverick and less offroad capability than a Corolla. Rusts and dents easily. Oh...and it's also a death trap for anyone inside after a collision.
