Instead of grabbing anyone this could be a real game changer. Enemy soldiers could surrender even deep behind enemy lines, signal their intentions with a white flag, and be evacuated to safety. It could also make taking prisoners much easier and safer, since there would be no need to send troops into hostile territory to retrieve them.

The basis is that it became known that POWs are treated fairly and decently.

If I hadn't rage-sponsored servo over the shitty Mozilla handling of money, I'd rage-sponsor servo now.

I use Firefox because I believe in an alternative to Chrome, but they make it fucking hard to love Firefox.

Yes. And DS2 was somehow boring. It felt like a DLC for DS.

Author or not - I just get a shitty machine translation of the original post into German. This is so annoying, machine translated stuff is much harder to read than the original English.

Oh, and yes the preferred language in my browser is set to English.

Why the fuck make a tech web page unreadable with CRT effects? Thank god, there is reader mode in Firefox.

I was just curious asked chatgpt:

How can I make a really great steak myself? What to look out for, what to do. Give me detailed instructions.

I got a really good answer (including - cut, temperature and reverse searing), so I probably won't even need understanding. (Oh - and yes, I can cook - the answer mirrors what I already know).

Yes, it was a very, very poor analogy, because cooking a steak is a well known and well documented thing where LLMS produce good output. They fail when you get off the beaten path and try to do something that's not "mainstream".

When the LLM starts doing dumb shit I start cursing it like a sailor who had been a pig farmer.

It makes me feel better, but doesn't help.

I just see:

Thinking: The user is unhappy. I need to .... <whatever> (and then probably the same dumb shit again).

LLMs are useful but sometimes fucking frustrating dumb shits of loose transitors.

Ta-daa. That happens. They found some new geothermal source in Munich as well after I moved into the place I'm in now. It turned out it was very viable.

Nowadays the heat in my apartment is mainly geothermal (The district heating network in my neighborhood has been converted to geothermal energy over the past 10 years.)

But really, where is the difference in data misuse from the US and China? Because the US has been "friends" in the past?
