It's in the ToS, is it not? Like Alexa or whatever.

Observing SaaS vs using an open source stack in the beforetimes, the answer might be some combination of, "So I never have to think about it, and if anything goes wrong, no one can blame us because we went with the biggest & most trusted provider."

for some reason around here every bar has turned into a sports bar. Cocktail bar? Whisky bar? Brewery? Stripclub? They all have a bunch of screens and play sports now.

In our library, I saw a homeless person pleasuring himself.

I suspect such basic UX & integration misses is parallel to the general trend of customers somehow getting narrower services, a move away from supporting power users, and toward companies functioning more like fiefdoms where customers are subjects to be farmed.

Look, at least with the one I had experience of, you knew what you were getting. They would invite you to tea. You grease their palms, and the vast majority of the time, you got what you tacitly agreed to. And you did it after you built, not before. If something went wrong, it was all just haggling on price. Nothing esoteric & labyrinthine with a few warring ideals going up against a hundred petty voices and a handful of corporate interests.

The first three select for people who are especially good at school. However, a confounding factor is patients/clients themselves. When working under physicians, I noticed that patients often liked a physician I personally knew to be incompetent at diagnosis, because she was good at being likable. Another physician was fairly robotic in her interactions, but her diagnostic track record was great. As an insider I could compare their assumptions to test results, which let me check their records.

The unfortunate thing to me is that outside of VERY upscale or VERY downscale dive bars, every place is full of screens now. People go to bars and look at screens instead of talking as much as they used to.

It used to be fairly common in smaller but densely populated areas in the United States, not so long ago (pre-2020). A lot of breweries were setup so that there were even outdoor areas that kids could be in. Usually one of the drafts was priced drastically lower than the others, and there were many unspoken relationship-based discounts or "try this" from the bartender or owner.

There are a lot of specific workflows where you can't exactly verify whether something works due to the number of interactions between devices, systems, manufacturing & marketing specs, etc. So if you ask an LLM normally, it might say The ACF 2000 or whatever will do Y with the XYZ 3e, but that's not how either of those things behave together. Hidden in a lot of firm's operating data is the actual answer. So if you could, say, get all that data for a single vertical and join that into a normalized dataset, I imagine that would greatly improved accuracy for both LLMs and any model you might build for that vertical.

"ask yourself do you know anyone of your friends that made it with crypto!" yes. Why would you use such an easily falsifiable example? I'm sure there's plenty of other points in your preference's favor.

For a lot of office jobs, in terms of what people do on computers, this is already the case. However, I don't think a lot of these jobs are going away just yet.

I've known people who grew up on sailboats who loved it in retrospect. At least the boys. I was generally struck by their competence & confidence.

Like many solutions that could work, the problem is often somewhere in adoption.
