Nowhere BUT the US puts you in that bracket.

I mean, having done quite a bit of rotoscoping work in high school, if you can start from the output of this plugin and refine a little, you’re absolutely still saving hours. It was still most of the way there.

I assumed civil forfeiture meant they wouldn’t get returned, and probably get destroyed after some delay. I’m curious too…

On one hand, I obviously can’t legitimately expect the manufacturers of these things to support their older hardware offerings ad vitam aeternam.

On the other, it’s a freaking thermostat controller. An appliance. I don’t want to have to replace appliances before they break, and software breaking it is unacceptable.

I’ve been largely holding off on domotics because so much of it reeks of premature obsolescence... Maybe someone over here has good experience with Home Assistant et al?

Plenty of people were making this argument. The main difference is the previous presidents didn’t fill their cabinet with literal neofascists.

So this is what HN has become, climate denialism and bundling pop science headlines with “scientists”. Jesus.

There are two links, and they were the first two I found in a 2 minute search, which you could, and should, have done yourself before forming the opinion that women as a whole are not pushing for trades jobs. It's pretty clear at this point that you formed the opinion first.

The push exists, if you bother looking for it at all.

I legitimately don't understand this sentiment. If cloning software is really as easy as you say it is nowadays, the only difference between our own agent stack, the small scrappy indie devs, and commercial software companies, is who pays for the tokens.

Assuming this, I see even LESS of a reason NOT to have a wide array of open versions we can all hack our way from. We'll collectively have to invest less if we have an open base to work from. Reinventing the wheel doesn't stop being reinventing the wheel because an LLM did it.

I don't know how it is in Europe, but here in Canada, looking at grocery stores in isolation makes little sense when most of the market is controlled by a handful of vertically integrated conglomerates. On top of the stores, they own a lot of the distribution, wholesale operations, real estate, and even some suppliers. Their own financials show record revenue and profit, year after year, and their margins have increased significantly over the last few years too. We can't reduce the economics of such integrated corporate groups to their retail net margins alone to judge profitability. As far as Canada goes, small margins my ass.

The question is will it hurt them enough before it's too late for your collective choices to matter more than Thiel and friends' wealth and power. I have serious doubts. It's pretty obvious that the existing checks and balances in this country's constitution simply do not work as they were assumed to function, if at all.

That's pretty par for the course - at least, as far as authoritarian regimes go. It's getting very difficult to think of the US as anything but, at this point.

It's got an editor, a debugger, code intelligence, a debugger, terminal, task running, test explorer, refactoring tools, project management, and so on. What's an IDE if not a text editor with bells and whistles?

Unless I'm missing something, this doesn't help with preventing regressions. In the end, as the author already puts it, it's an integration test in the end, why not just write the integration tests directly?

For them to die in the shootout, you have to assume there was actual intent to execute said shooting.
