Nothing, I guess, and that is a good thing, I guess: the world didn't even by a day (few days?) without electricity.

I'm not being a design/frontend person, but I can decide if I like or don't like something. Having some default "themes" to say so I can choose from is a large help for me.

I mean with AI you can possibly more easily make decisions on the motor oil and suspension choices of the car you are building... but there may still be people who only want to get an pre-designed car, and only make calls on trim and color maybe.

I'm sad to read this, but the authors know what is best for them, and what their priorities are. I'm really grateful for their work, I found Pico a few years ago, when I needed a minimal page (some status page for an embedded system) super quickly, and I had more than enough from the Bootstrap div soup, and invested half of the available time to research alternatives in - as I learnt the correct term for my preference then - semantic html.

It was a blast, super simple markup, mostly good defaults, I really enjoyed it.

I hope the best for them, and I hope some fork may get some traction, as Pico was my goto framework for small stuff one needs to do every now and then, and I really don't like the tailwind approach.

but according to the docs not to the nvi version in the base system.

And none of these give them the freedom, agency, a past noble or a king had.

My parents had access to cheaper housing, less red-tape and fixed working hours, more job security than my generation, when I was born.

So now insert BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE FLAT PANEL TV AND IPHONE in retarded Sponge Bob chicken meme here.

> first remaining people burn out.

you mean last remaining people?

Wow! Nice!

That would possibly been great news, as it would soon be too costly to use AI to replace the human workforce.

I guess it has poor (or nonexistent) unicode support in 48kb. My only gripe with NetBSD was its lacking UTF-8 support for many core tools (eg. wscons, vi) when I used it as daily driver beck in the days (NetBSD 5 RC2 times :P)

> CSS isn't useless eyecandy.

Did I claim CSS being useless eyecandy? Nope. Bezels and squircles? Yes.

Yes, web people don't know about the outside word, and generally hate it, and its usecases.

Wow even more fancy border styles! Infinite complexity for useless eyecandy. Date pickers are still barely working, last time i needed to build a touch optimized interface (gloves, industrial setting) with date picker, time picker, and numeric up/down style input fields it needed custom components and js...

But who needs these, when we can have bezel and whatnot...

Who needs ways to reliably trigger the display of the touch platform-native keyboard, to be notified if it is displayed and to move the input field in view so it is not obscured by the keyboard?

This is why the web is a terrible platform compared to Windows Forms for getting stuff done. Because those making the standards only work on creating gimmicks.

Very bad example: If your business is outlawed, that why is it a problem if the domain of the then illegal business is also censored? It is basically an expected outcome.

> The wind doesn't stop blowing at night.

It is still intermittent, not available in such an amount everywhere, also when we take out insane amounts of energy from wind, weather patterns might be effected. Just because we ignored the global effects of mass-deployment of fossil fuel usage,m and are seeing the effects of "negligible amounts" of CO2 released, why should we ignore the effects of other antropocenic effects?

> Citation please. > In 2025 I calculated it would cost only a year of German GDP for batteries to power Germany for 6 months. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45443098

I MADE IT UP, just like you "citing" your earlier HN post :)

Once again, you ignore that if you would make such insane amount of demand, supply couldn't keep up, and the price would definitely be effected.

Energy needs to be transported, stored. You need to solve winter heating, and energy needs of heavy industry, lot of which cannot be intermittently turned on/off and needing insane amounts of energy. Oh, I'm wrong, you can luckily ignore that, as that has been already closed down to the current energy strategy based on your single-minded approach, so we don't need to solve such demand, when it magically disappears. As long as the coffee machines and the macbooks can be powered we are all well.

Also it is not insane amount? For half a year's GDP Hungary gets a nuclear power plant that can power the 30% of the country's energy needs for ~60 years (plus some fuel cost)...
