What happened to personal accountability? We used to say "If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you jump too" and the same applies to AI. Of course some fault lies with the AI companies and their misleading advertising.

Education is indeed very important. But AI companies don't want you educated about LLMs. They want you to believe they are magic, conscious and super"intelligent", instead of simply next token predictors. Especially investors being uneducated is the reason for their absurd valuations.

My company made the big mistake of hiring a Vietnamese into upper management. Now he's offshoring and laying off natives and hiring new teams in his home country. Only a handful of devs and software support are still here, hundreds of devs in east Asia.

It's not due to AI. As I've said before

You're delusional and/or lying. I graduated from the top university for CS in my country and perhaps Europe, haven't checked in a while. My grades were not great but decent. Still I was struggling to get interviews. I thought I was doing something wrong so I consulted the career department of my uni but it still took me a year to find a well paying but kinda shitty legacy software job

That would be due to the shit economy globally. People make excuses that it's AI replacing jobs, but that's delusional. Its very rough and none of our clients have any money

Has it really? I wonder because all these "breakthroughs" are published in AI magazines and not mathematics magazines. Seems to me a bunch of advertisement but I am not qualified to make a claim

You are lying. What you are describing is what I call "third-worldism" a mindset and way of living that's been imported over the last few decades. If you think the US is more corrupt than any rhird world country you're naive

Leaking it to google is fine then? I'd rather have control who to use for my location API and be able to turn it off entirely.

"Google bad" is THE compelling argument to flash a custom ROM. Many projects like CalyxOS go privacy first, security second.

I am not worried about a random third worlder hacking my phone. This would only be possible if I allow it by user mistake. I am however worried about Google and its business model. As are many others.

MicroG is great because it limits Google's tracking as much as possible. It's lication services can be routed to a more trustworthy party, and you can actually select which APIs microG forwards to Google. Sandboxed Play Services don't allow any of this, and it's bloated and battery hungry in comparison.

Case closed.

How do you even write this comment without seeing the irony? You made my point for me: GrapheneOS is security first, privacy second

If it was privacy first it would ship with microG by default.

I work in the industry. Usually customers are sold new PLCs for exorbitant prices as an "upgrade". Service contracts are only for know-how maintenance. Support cases get billed in addition to that.

This is how it's done everywhere I worked. You can patch some bugs for cheap in the software, but you can't fix hardware limitations. I know companies that use PLCs that still don't support encryption despite the upcoming EU regulations.

The companies either don't care or are too greedy to spend money on this.

Why can't they signature spoof for those fundamental apps and prevent installing or uninstalling them, similar to how you can't uninstall google stuff on stock android?

GrapheneOS is incredibly focused on security. Privacy is clearly a second thought to them.
