They would want their own agency. After that, we can’t assume anything. They might even think reducing the autonomy of us in the flyovers and replacing it with AI is for our own good.

People can not be trusted to preserve the agency of others. See history.

For that to be the case we’d have to assume some level of altruism, when so for we’ve only seen self interested actions whitewashed as altruistic.

It does read like linkedin, just without the cringe wording style. Still full of the non-falsifiable and/or non-actionable fluff.

There’s nothing to really grab onto to discuss. At best I’ll be dismissed as just not getting it, at worst I’ll be pained as some dummy blinded by being made redundant.

Your idea of an "inscrutable error message" is a python stack trace with an unhanded socket connection refused?

I don't really relate to the "must binge" mindset. I can enjoy binging a 20 hour game over a few weeks, but I'm also happy with things you chip away at here and there.

I've been slowly reading One Piece for over 2 years now. Where other people find the idea of such a long series daunting, I'm happy that there's always more I haven't read yet. If I never finish, it will still have been worth it.

A lot of those exist because of fairly strong “don’t get close to this” rules or culture. There are certainly areas where our democracies had good properties that slowly erroded too.

Physical operations is the “you had one job” of running a stadium. Gillette even has their own wastewater plant. Some basic rack and stack for IT infra that they could offsite next to all the IT infra they can’t offsite should be child play to them.

There was a talk at defcon about this. I’m on mobile but you should be able to find the esp32 firmware for their detector on github.

Bit rude to armchair psychoanalyze. Also wouldn’t change anything about whether the firing was justified.

Oh. I see the disconnect between us.

To me, either the culture bubble is extremely strong in your area, or being able to admit alignment with ideas shared by a major political party in an area where another party is more popular is an very low bar.

On the scale of topics that I conceal about myself, politics is as easy as talking about the weather.

I feel like this thread is full of two camps:

People who think it's sweet that their colleague is taking vacation to visit family at the end of august this year.

And people who understand exactly why they told that lie.
