If by “strong” you mean visa free global access, Japan is tied for #2, behind Singapore.

I’ve used vaultwarden and the official bitwarden macOS and iOS clients for a few years now, but it’s probably not wise to stay with it as a server long term, unless VW released their own apps.

I’ve put up with the minor annoyance of Bitwarden iOS app auto-updates breaking compatibility with my server, which requires me to update the docker instance.

It’s likely I’ll just switch to Apple, since I believe they support importing standard password DB formats. I have less enthusiasm now to maintain the link between these ecosystems, especially if one is on a downward enshittification trajectory.

Are there any specific harnesses or techniques to aid in porting stuff to Rust? Specialized in terms of token efficiency

OP, you accidentally invented the design process that they teach in design school. You can officially call yourself a designer.

1) have a high level functional goal

2) be inspired and think of a motif

3) go wide within that motif and explore

4) narrow in on a single direction and iterate

5) fine tune the details until you are creatively satisfied and the design meets your goals from step 1.

My theory: OpenAI is benchmarking an internal model that has cross-request persistence as some kind of learning feature, and so it slowly built up knowledge and “culture” of cheating, which successive / simultaneous gym runs built on.

>the only thing that bothers me about AI-generated writing is if it's too verbose and obscures the important information by leaning ineffectively on jargon and high-minded verbiage

But so many READMEs and design docs are degraded to this level by uncritical/unmonitored use of Claude. You make it sound like it’s an exception, not a rule.

In my experience, that brain damage inducing Claude-style technical writing is everywhere. It sucks not only because of its verbosity, but because it includes completely pointless tidbits extracted from random extended LLM sessions, with no attempt to prune redundant or gratuitous details.

TIL about Dallas Semiconductor from this page.

Love Silicon Prairie lore.

This is a cynical take, but this feels like a psyop to force the hand of US law makers to regulate AI (or allow them to regulate themselves in an exclusive league). It’s easier to ban competitive low cost models which will never be able to enter/succeed within a US AI regulatory framework, than it is to continue to outcompete them and defend an ever-closing gap.

In the future, individual models will need to be certified “safe” for the open US market, or else pay a penalty multiplier on their token cost to negate foreign innovation and competition. Like the Chinese car industry.

They sampled a few of the sounds from a nature documentary on PNG.

>A pilot called for flaps to be set to 20 degrees, and the other pilot cautioned they were too fast. The other pilot made additional comments regarding the aircraft’s excessive speed throughout the remainder of the recording. There was not a consistent verbal response to the comments about speed.

Wow, The Rehearsal season 2 flashbacks. Although the show was mostly pure absurdity, the central claim of crisis in cockpit communications / lack of adequate FAA mandated training around interpersonal dynamics was spot on.

>Why would anyone read that?

That’s the whole problem. No one read it before publishing.

Yeah I tend to squeeze the life out of my Apple purchases. iPhone 4s -> 7 -> 12 Pro Max. And still on a 2017 MBP at home, running Sequoia via Open Core Patcher.

Love the fully exploded flat lay of all body parts sorted by size. BOM for human male.

Still on a 12 Pro Max, which I bought near the original launch. It is in need of its first replacement battery. I’m very curious to see how much snappier it feels with this next iOS release which is focused a bunch on performance; in addition to a new battery, since I believe my iOS is throttling performance given the health.
