Oh for sure, these many years AWS has set a high bar in the service space for conscientiousness in offerings. When I compare to my personal work experiences with gcp and azure the amount of times I've been rug pulled over the years has been essentially zero for AWS.

This is incredibly interesting and I wish someone made an index of all of these approaches and their nuance.

The tension of the two ideas, 1. that a babbling brook in a field that has been there for a million years and the patent absurdity of saying someone can own it. 2. that a person needs a place to call their own.

This objective fact and the following emotional motivation are under explored in the empirical space, and I really think we should make better strides in trying to measure these things.

Was s3 the last time Amazon showed lab grade innovation? Lambda?

I could be wrong because I haven't paid much attention but Amazon has just fast followed everyone else innovation for a awhile so it's in like one ecosystem yeah?

I'm not trying to be snarky, I just haven't thought about aws as having any innovation for a while and I always figured it was because ruthless companies that churn through people as disposable commodities generally don't do tech innovation.

I'm talking on the AWS side, on the logistics side they clearly are doing insane things on supply chain perf optimization.

I agree with you generally but I don't think desktop UI is remotely close to perfected. Unless you mean the desktop as a skeumorphic concept than maybe.

I think we've actually completely stagnate on the human interaction side of OSes and only emacs has made any progress and then only for those willing to put the work in, not as a vanilla user ui.

Peirce I think successfully mapped out the concept of the firstness/secondness/thirdness.

The only way you are getting close to expressing firstness is through high speed, unedited word association poetry.

Humans don't really have introspection, we don't have access to what's going on in every subsystem, we don't even have control, otherwise we could think ourselves to death ala breaking emacs with the right line of lisp.

The idea that the thought or intent in your brain survives semantic translation is... well, it can only kinda happen. It can be a target but thinking it's possible in an absolute sense is the old map/terrain mistake.

I think fast iteration with image mocks and wire frame mocks is sufficient, understanding the process of rapid testing with isolated toys before locking in design is the best we can get.

This is moving in the direction towards a final interface, very good.

There aren't enough digital french cleat systems.

The true benefit of a French cleat isn't storage or organizing the way a fiddly pegboard and hanger approach uses, it's the ability to move all tools for a specific project onto a single rail without having to fiddle around, reducing friction for engaging and re-engaging with a project.

I found myself in a remote part of Brasil, without internet access, right after it came out.

I had downloaded it and it was the only music I had on my box. Usually I listened to streams on winamp from my comfortable home office.

I was busy hacking away at a startup and programming every night for hours with no other music on my computer in the jungle heat, with my windows open I once had a giant tarantula pop right in fromt of my face.

For 3 months I listened to that album on repeat for 4-5 hours every night while I slammed cafezinhos and baré.

I've gone through periods where I've done that again state side.

The album never gets old, never cloying from repetition.

It's a perfect album.

As an allergy enjoyer there is no air too pure.

My allergies became generally better at all hours just from sleeping in super cleaned air.

Why? Reducing baseline inflammation perhapse? Maybe decreased inflammation during sleep helps too, improved breathing? idk. Whatever it is this organism seems to prefer it.

Even when exposed to allergens during the day the run up to sneezing is much slower or doesn't happen.

Yeah, I think an argument can be made that frank welkers presence at the top indicates voice acting should be treated as an optional variant.

Among the moderns really only the Quakers could be said to follow The Way in who they follow, all the rest follow some different teacher of their choosing.
