tho, I also met this problem and found a solution for me - develop all in one worktree on a single branch, then cherry-pick to the second worktree to the needed branch.

So, only first worktree is built: - less space needed. - less time spent on build, which is usually caused by switching branches. - you are not required to merge/rebase of master branch to solve conflicts, which also cause long time rebuilds.

tell me where working with strings is not miserable? Practically, modern languages with RAII make it easy at the cost of perfomance (doing a lot of allocations). So, if you doing lot of string handling, you still need to think how to do it in performant way. If doing it a bit - why care about miserable.

and what it does take away? most "better C" languages basically looks like C++ (except zig, maybe). Nobody write something real in them, so nobody knows about their pitfalls.

> Anyhow, people don't write off Telegram because it's Russian, but for many legitimate reasons.

> There are indications that it could be much closer to the Russian government than they pretend

Can you give more details, please? I'm using telegram a lot and want to know if there is something...

what problem with chromium?

and? How does this all matter when you choose a web browser engine? You can write your own, but you still have this problem. So, this is not an argument against chromium at all.

I think its deeper than "reading books" vs "doomscrolling social media's". Books can be fast food too. And, probably, in our time more and more books will become fast food.

There are a lot of good staff in format of short essay or in blog posts and even in videos. So, its a bit incorrect to say that reading is better than watching. Or that people was more intelligent due to reading.

Question here is not how, but what to consume.

But I think even consuming high quality/professional content, with deep research and etc etc, can be addictive and lead to problems described in this post.

I don't really know how to classify this problem, but maybe - "producing ideas by yourself" vs "consuming someone other ideas"?

With reading we consume ideas. But because reading is boring (rating by speed of receiving information), we also have lot of time to think, to produce new ideas.

And what with watching videos? especially short - you have almost no time to think about 15sec video content, because it already gone up and you need to forget it and see next...

So, reading and watching, doomscrolling is all about one, but on different stage.

And all this about competing two's: create it by yourself or listen it from someone other.

P.S. this is even make sense.. look: the more you do something, the more you skilled in this. And vice versa. So, when you stop thinking by yourself and start listening, your intelligence go down just because intelligence is about thinking, about analyzing and about your own sight, not someone other.

The law will not work without a technical solution. So, you need both. But, at least, technical.

> So now, because of bad actors, I need to pay for the privilege of watching a website or using a service that was meant to be free? No, thanks.

First of all - I suppose it should be very cheap. So, real humans will not pay much.

Second - why do u think that websites are meant to be free? They provide some service, so its a rather strange that the internet is so free (in both senses). I think, this freeiness is allowed to greatly speed up popularization. But for me is obvious that it can demand payment for service.

And third - service owner really meant it to be free, I don't see any problems with this in my idea. It can still provide free service.
