I'm in UE. Given most products on Amazon are Chinese products rebranded and imported by UE resellers, it only make sense to shop there today because of tariffs the UE put on Aliexpress etc. which are not useful for users but only for Amazon.

I really don't feel bad for resellers which have some margin on something you can get directly from the source with Aliexpress and other over border stores. It's a good thing their margin is shrinking. This way of doing business doesn't make sense anymore.

I feel bad for us as consumers and those few companies really innovating on products.

at some point you need the UX, because you are the end user. Will it shift to models or agents UX? I don't know. For products intended for agents only, a different UX is needed, since there is a different user.

that's true, but as an amateur photographer I have found that RawTherapee covers all my needs. That's why I was making the distinction above, however for sure there exists needs not covered by partial alternatives.

for casual users, there are already open source alternatives to Adobe products. For professionals who can afford to pay the subscription, there is value in knowing a proper company is behind that subscription. This vibe coded clones, unless someone truly spends effort in making a good and working app, are pointless. But you can't get UX from screenshot. Proper UX is still the domain of humans, because this generation of AIs can't feel.

my point is that imposing sanctions is not an argument

I'd say that the longstanding disagreement is used as a pretext today. Hence the need to stress twice the "bipartisan" nature of it, implying, the article suggests, the bipartisan support to this new move.

you can argue many things. This isn't arguing.

One can also argue that, exactly because there is the right to self-determination, there is a huge need for a inter-national and super-national organism to ensure that a right of some country doesn't jeopardise the rights of others.

Is the ICC the right organism? Maybe, maybe not; we can argue about that.

You can point an LLM to a debugger in any language. You should measure token efficiency across different workflows to see if there is a programming language that is handled better by a LLM.

because certain political parties have made energy technologies part of their identities, which is... stupid.

interesting point, but in a real desktop, or multi-desktop setup, you can have different things on each one and look at them one by one, by table. The alt+tab default behaviour on MacOS is not that. This is my problem with their design choice.

I didn't mention Windows so I don't know where the person commenting got it from ;)

gnome is not a distro but a desktop environment.
