The decentralised mode never interested general public, even though it was mildly interesting as an idea to skip hierarchical trust. The established use of crypto is exclusively money laundering and investment scams, made usable for general public though use of centralised exchanges. The crypto isn’t important, it is just an excuse.

Yes, the worst (or just longest) pieces of slop tire me out. When I leave work I usually cannot read or spell properly. The texts I read in the afternoon make much more sense in the next day. I'm making typos I could never ever imagine making. There's just too much to review and ignore.

Someone higher up in the hierarchy telling you to trust this. You have no option to challenge it.

I wonder if they made this change with an assumption that the root CAs wouldn't be distrusted later same day, too.

Bet there was an executive telling we cannot afford old-time security in the era of AI. If they had guardrails outside of the prompt they were getting left behind.

You can see the SKUs they base the prices on by hovering over a data point, and the products just don't generally represent the market. Oftentimes the whole market is represented by some bottom of the barrel legacy memory, single stick in some warehouse. During the last years DDR3 and DDR4 haven't gotten as expensive as the current generations, and I think the memory compatible with current systems should represent the market rather than a Toshiba Satellite 4 GB extension kit.

Trivialising this to fear of vaccines misses the point. The lack of human communication being the new normal, cut friendships and shattered communities are the real killer here. Especially for ones that didn’t have a lot of social life or family to begin with.

Yeah, as long as the tech worker himself isn't on the list to be deported, shot or gassed to death, he has no need to worry.

The total lack of empathy, praise of strongmen like Musk and Trump and DHH, promoting slave labour. This whole view of society is simply disgusting and far too common in the startup circles.

Yes, I dismissed the reactions as overreaction and the usual drama, until I read what DHH himself has written this summer. He would no longer fit the European far right comfortably to be honest, his current views align better with the 1930's. And that way SV happily invests tens of millions to your collection of dotfiles.

And this year, some of the reports suddenly got good and meaningful. https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2026/04/22/high-quality-chaos/

So the agents started doing something useful after a period of filling mailing lists and bug bounties with slop. Sound good, but that's not entirely a good thing. The volume of good reports is a burden as well, and it's likely that long-lasting open source C/C++ projects have legitimate vulnerabilities unpatched. But we don't have any new maintainers, I think.

The problem isn’t the efficiency of car use, it’s car dependency. If retail is only available in the huge units it’s impossible to access those without a car. And if people end up owning cars, even against their will, they will end up using those daily.

The goal is to avoid the car-centric lifestyle, not to optimise it. Maybe that is a totally utopian idea in the us, though.

You can still get any of these devices for the price of 16 GB DDR5 or 32 GB DDR4 (which limits the choice and availability of CPUs). It's a terrible time to build freedom PCs.

But it’s the agent era, you can’t afford to take any responsibility of your business /s
