The problem of SO is the duplicate question is years apart. The answer is now different because software version changes along with the APIs. Cancer killed SO, the aggressive policing and killing of noobs who want to contribute.

YUI library was amazing and all the Yahoo coding stuff, it is sad they were all just discarded because it was not financially viable.

It is hard to describe the feeling of seeing things getting archived in real life. It will be very sad once SO is deleted from the web. When I needed a good description of a new computer stuff I usually go to Anandtech and now the whole site is now gone and all the knowledge on it. The future generation can't even dig it out of the ground like what archeologist are doing right now to piece some of our history. One day SO will be deleted from the web and all the knowledge it holds just like the old Usenet and Yahoo/Google groups with vast knowledge just deleted.

It is a real thing. If you experienced the shift from CRT to the first generation of LCD screens and the CRT bros are not moving to the new technology because it gives them headaches and the majority of people are OK with the refresh rates. The 60fps to 120fps perception is hard to explain.

Their budget iPad I think got 70% increased in price a couple of months ago. I was planning to upgrade my iPad mini to the normal 11inch iPad and when I checked the price it was nowhere near the price I remembered I last saw it.

In Japan, the main stairs of the building is designed like fire escapes. It is unenclosed and mostly on the side of the building. When I first saw them I thought it was silly to have the stairs open to the environment during rain and snow. I finally realized they have double purpose.

In S. Korea almost all apartment buildings have their own escape lapel rope attached to the window and all have a fire proof blanket in the cabinet near the exit door.

In the computer world, wait a few years and things get cheaper. That was broken by an exceptional event. Who would have thought you can't afford DDR4 in 2026?

You see only the address when it is already paid and to be shipped. Cancelling credit card transaction is very costly to the merchant.

There are some section of a train line where 4 stations are owned by someone else and they change names along the same rail route. They also change the driver or whatever he is called when changing the company name of the train.
