Is it fair to say it’s a general human trait to iteratively, over many generations, step towards that society?

It's not impossible to navigate, original Switch has a lively "homebrew community".

It's the same as it ever was. You go for Windows and macOS for cohesive defaults. You go for Linux for agility. Agility comes at a cost, but it's now lower than ever before, as NixOS + the agents are the closest you can come to `import antigravity`[0].

This is a 3rd party account, so there’s no way to be sure about what actually happened, BUT IF a business is actually employing a “sex sells” tactic to medical procedures, there’s basically no way we could point that out because a women’s body is involved?

Is it uncommon for companies that produce dual use tech to have stronger oversight?

I created an (unpublished) MCP for a CAD that didn’t have one before and LLMs are just fine at it. It looks like they can apply their higher level training across interfaces.

Death itself is deeply rooted in the mechanics of biological life that currently exists on Earth. We, rightfully so, recognize enormous value of human life, as it takes so much effort to create one. Thinking of my own death, I also see multiple layers of how I would approach it. I might have an animalistic, subconscious will to survive. I might be afraid of pain. I might be regretful of not experiencing more in life. I might be afraid for family I’d leave behind. I’m not making any definitive statements, but it feels like many of those layers are affected when bending the reality to the point of vapourizing a perfect clone.

Given the vastly different mechanics of AI, I don’t think that traditional views apply here well. Imagine that I’m able to create an atom-for-atom clone of myself, have the clone clean the attic, then vanish into thin air. Would that be slavery? Murder? Would that be immoral? It feels like those terms, deeply grounded in human experience, barely apply.

That might be true, but should we clutch our pearls after we killed our villages?

Given the extreme short time between 6 Sol and 6.1 Sol, I suspect they don’t actually have much in common and 6.1 is a heavier model rebranded as Sol in a panic response to poor agentic capabilities of 6.

Nice. It never really occurred to me how different these are from 64C keycaps. I guess through our affinity for retro look, the original typeface ended up feeling more modern/current than the newer one.

Incredibly sad news. I first learned of him and watched his documentaries just a few years ago. It’s difficult to understate, if you happen to be a tech nerd, how much fun “Triumph of the Nerds” and “Nerds 2.0.1” are to watch, even nowadays.

How do you know it’s not when looking into the mirror, that we see Jesus in burnt toast?

These are two different issues. Do they intend to create models that basically encapsulate entire human intellectual value? Yes, but that's apparently not illegal. Did the intend to hack Hugging Face? Probably not.
