Have you been doing the commute lately? All the routes are bad, it’s just a question of bad or worse. I have to make the drive sometimes and it typically takes 40 min or so just to north Seattle.

With the I-5 construction an hour is 100% believable.

Just did a quick check and the Shoreline Costco to Pike Place at 9 on a Tuesday morning is 35m-65m according to Google Maps.

Most sports have a salary cap to prevent being able to buy your way to success. They recognize that having more money than your opponent gives you an unfair advantage and destroys competition.

I mean that's a false choice, plenty will be keeping work conversations professional elsewhere while also having 6 months salary.

I don't know if a full third of a company leaving at once can really be explained away as people they didn't really want on the team.

Prepping for 3+ months is definitely not the baseline. I'd really need some convincing that you're getting any real incremental benefit past a week of interview prep. There's not that much ground to really cover and at some point you're just solving different versions of the same problems over and over again.

"Stealing an idea" has been a phrase for far longer than that though. Stealing as a metaphor for intangible objects isn't a creation of the media companies.

Turning $10 billion into $45 billion over 10 years isn't really that incredible.

That's less growth than Comcast has had over the same period. Which most would not consider a dynamic incredible stock.

So by extension, don't you have an ethical obligation to have as many children as possible regardless of the quality of life you can provide them?

At least they'll have a life that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

How in particular do they work well together? Backbone is something I've been meaning to try out.

"But I guess you could dump old data to disk and load it back to Redis only when you need it."

Redis has a mode which does this automatically I believe (and it's the default if I remember correctly).

It's a way to convey tone through text. Sometimes the same comment can be taken in either a rude or a helping way, and prefacing it with "I don't mean to be rude" is a way of saying "please take this in the helping way."

When talking in person you can infer this through how they say it, but in anonymous text on the internet the disclaimer is helpful.
