Conventionally, loops with <= is very much a Pascal thing, not C.

There is nothing clearer about your way unless someone is just starting with C.

'while (i--)k is a shortcut, which might seem terse when one first encounters it, it is a well-established and trivial to understand construct. On the other hand, your embellishment only adds pointless friction when reading the code.

YMMV, but I found Daemon rather unreadable. Both in writing and the content.

Definitely not even in the same ballpark as Gibson, or even Stephenson.

Any rule is as good as its enforcement.

The plank rule just exists, not enforced, so nobody observes it.

Same will happen with the high-tech regulation. In fact, it is already happening left and right where it does exist.

Amen. Very well put.

How do you propose people pay for a roller coaster ride?

Different target audience.

I'd rather have an aluminum key.

> Heated steering wheel on the other hand; that's heavenly

Twice I tried it on rental cars it freaked the hell out of me. This is what I'd imagine people experiencing some exotic neurological collapse feel like - part of hands feeling warm, while surrounding bits feeling frozen. Mixed signaling, really bizarre dissonance. So now when I get a new car, I get pretty much every option except for the heated steering wheel.

> I've yet to encounter a program where a single flipped JE/JNE or NOP couldn't unlock most or all capabilities

There are some, with code consistency cross-checks and such. Cracking them with static code patching can get very time-consuming. Patching them dynamically works, but some have checks for that too. It's not common though for sure.

Excellent collection, compliments to the chef!

One of my recent favourites - Le Soleil by Foscarini - https://www.foscarini.com/en/product/le-soleil-std-s-en/

It's wonderfully asymmetrical without overdoing it, with every layer suspended and swaying independently when prodded. Exceptional light distribution.

You have a point. It's possible that Munroe being a physist might've known about Balmer Jump... though that's still quite a stretch to assume it was the source of the comic.

It's a different Balmer.
