I don't doubt the upcoming AI/robot capabilities. But who would give that command and why?

Can't wait to get bored to death. Too bad I can't imagine how this post-scarcity for all could come about no matter how hard I try.

> Only difference is who is doing the censoring.

It's a universe-sized difference though. If a platform owner is doing it you can somply go to another platform. If a democratically elected goverment is doing it you can change the government though it's much harder. Or at least you can soothe yourself that it's being done for the benefit if the people as "the people" sees it. And if an authoritarian government is doing it, you are screwed.

Russia is trying that (white lists) and it's proving costly enough that even they have to back off. They'll probably get there eventually but it requires serious investment of money and time and inevitably hampers the economy.

I don't know if something's wrong with me, but this sounds like a humiliation ritual. I understand citizenship is a serious business to the point of creating a duty to go to war for your new motherland. But why would you go to war for a country that subjected you to this?

> Do you want an LLM to autonomously fly a commercial plane without any pilots in 2030?

This argument has been made before LLMs and it didn't make sense to me then either. Sure I do if it crashes statistically less often than humans!

But sure, if my job now is going to jail when something malfunctions, that's still better than seeing my family starve.

As soon as I have "infinite IQ" flowing from a socket on my wall, I'll attach an agentic harness to it and order it to take over the world for me before worse people get the same idea.

We are talking about a world here where humans are entirely out of supply chain. Rocks in your analogy rather than grass or rabbits.

Because there won't be anything of value they can offer to the machines in exchange.

The newly useless humans can trade with each other eventually reinstating the exact same economy we have now. That's of course as long the AI or whoever controls it doesn't need the same resources. Which they probably will.

Czechia, quite surprisingly. But that was some time ago now, there are probably more these days (and might have been even then, I think my source is a Yandex speaker at a conference)

Russia used to be quite advanced in information technology. At one point they prided themselves on being one of only four nations with Internet-scale search engines IIRC. Their little military operation already cost them lots of talent. And now they are actively losing infra too. Nice.

I had fun writing code when I felt I'm growing from it or that it facilitates my knowledge and unique experience. The parts that I felt could as well be written by a robot were so hard I would miss deadlines unable to force myself to do them. For a brief period in 2025 we were in the happy spot when robots were good enough to do the robot thing and I could focus on the interesting parts. But now they are good enough for everything and it's depressing. I can still contribute meaningfully to the overall system and product design, but it seems we are couple of major modle releases away from that being no longer possible either.

You don't have to be for war to be instrumental in it. But Yandex isn't even just a Russian taxpayer which would be bad enough. It's been apprehended by the government and turned into a key element of its propaganda machine. It's literally one of the things that keeps Russia what it is. And using results from it? That's just insane. They are poisoned, and we actually know about it in detail thanks to a source code leak. If I wanted to see what the Russian propaganda is pushing today I can go to Yandex directly. But including it in my search results automatically?

Most of my enjoyment came from the feeling that I'm learning and becoming more capable with every bit of new code I write. That has completely evaporated because agents are gaining ground on my formely exclusive abilities far faster than I can acquire new ones. No solution seems to be in sight.
