Since January I've been working on a storytelling system that fuses what I think is the best of interactive fiction / MUDs with the strengths of LLMs. The world model is entirely deterministic, but the LLM interprets the player and narrates the game and NPCs.

Also hacking on something similar to YC's QM but designed for small non-profits to ease as much back office work as possible.

Yes. I swapped in the GGUF from https://huggingface.co/schlaflos/DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731-anti...

I have not run any evals against it to see how schlaflos's quant compares to antirez's of the original. There are also some other ds4-compatible GGUFs on HuggingFace now.

The problem is when OpenRouter switches providers..

This is untrue. Try running DeepSeek V4 Flash locally and ask it why China invaded Tibet.

ds4 is optimized for systems with unified memory. it works best on apple silicon with 96GB+ of RAM

He famously wrote a book with that title, but he actually wrote a book titled On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.

I’m not the original poster, but I think they are saying if we are more skeptical about what we read, we are less likely to absorb propaganda as fact.

By default it will automatically retry many tool calls that fail due to the sandbox with the sandbox disabled. In other words it can and will leave the sandbox.

For example:

Bash(swift build 2>&1 | tail -20)

  ⎿ warning:
/Users/enduser/Library/org.swift.swiftpm/configuration is not accessible or not writable, disabling user-level cache features.

warning: /Users/enduser/Library/org.swift.swiftpm/security is not accessible or not writable, disabling user-level cache feat

     … +26 lines (ctrl+o to expand)

Build hit sandbox restriction. Retrying outside sandbox.

Bash(swift build 2>&1 | tail -20)

  ⎿ [35/52] Compiling MCP Resources.swift

     [36/52] Emitting module MCP

     [37/52] Compiling MCP Client.swift

     … +17 lines (ctrl+o to expand)

  ⎿ (timeout 3m)

This covers how, but why?

I've worked as both an IC and EM over the course of 25 years. The best part of being an IC is crafting solutions to single-human-sized problems—without needing to deal much with people. The best part of being an EM is directing the creation of larger solutions, sometimes vastly larger solutions, at the cost of dealing with people stuff.

AI takes the craft out of being an IC. IMO less enjoyable.

AI takes the human management out of being an EM. IMO way more enjoyable.

Now I can direct large-scope endeavors and 100% of my time is spent on product vision and making executive decisions. No sob stories. No performance reviews. Just pure creative execution.

The way I have managed junior engineers is 90% via PR and testing, 10% via reading code in an editor or IDE.

It’s hard to let go of being the keyboard jockey, but in so many cases it is better to describe plans and acceptance criteria and just review the diffs.
