Which is: If someone comes illegally to your country and ends up sleeping in parks, they should be deported.
I don’t know if I agree with that but the post seems to take it for granted that any reasonable person cannot.
To me this is more a fashion statement than an argument. Advocating deportations is automatically bad, using the word “gypsy” is automatically offensive. It’s silly. Pretty much everyone has some line of behavior at which they advocate deportation, and can anyone here who is upset actually explain why “Roma” is less offensive than “Gypsy”? There are PhDs in Eastern European history who can’t do that.
Cloudflare, in contrast, actively works with the CCP which is doing actual ethnic cleansing in Tibet and Xinjiang. But they are harder to cancel aren’t they.
I’m a pragmatist. I’m not going to drive myself crazy interrogating the opinions of every service provider I use. I don’t know about the Fastmail founder or CEO’s beliefs and don’t want to.
Why is "gains" spelled this way? I found myself suddenly trusting the whole thing a little less. But maybe I'm missing something. Is this jargon in the body building world or something? Author being cheeky?
It’s a great tool if you want to give a local app its own database. If you need concurrent writes and full ACID guarantees of an industrial strength database, use an industrial strength database.
Yes, other databases will require you to read more manual pages and configure a service. Higher up front cost. Not “lightweight.” But given enough operating time there is a certain unarguable lightness to using the right tool for the job.
I admit this is a naive question. I have no idea how applicable bt is to web requests. This problem just seems to have a similar “too many people want this resource” shape.
I read the second paragraph of linked article as saying close to the opposite of that, particularly,
"the model can often avoid the mistake before the compiler ever sees the code. And as the models get better, the relative value of catching every possible issue at compile time changes."
In other words, LLMs are much less likely than humans to make dumb, fat-finger mistakes, and, when they do, are able to catch and fix them more quickly, ergo the value of type checking has fallen.
Everything in the prior sentence is, obviously, highly debatable. But it felt like part of the premise.
It’s really a bizarre statement, a sort of narcissistic need to feel persecuted amidst a life of plenty in the wealthiest society ever known. They have forced sterilization of Muslim women in China, up until recently forced abortions under the one child rule, and you get disappeared for criticizing dear leader. And your cozy life is comparably miserable? Only in your mind.
I think you’re being absurd. You’ve had a great and largely unfettered career. How has repression hurt you in the slightest? Who repressed you?
2. Literally the only place the word deport is used in the post is here: “ When gypsies take over public spaces, you deport them”
Please quote where he says to deport all Roma/gypsies.
