We live in an interesting time.

I have been in meetings where the conversation has been 'my Claude has got feedback', 'great, I'll get my Claude to take a look'.

When do you just cut out the human middleware in that process?

I'm not sure any of the other Arduino platforms would be able to do the computer vision parts this appears to.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this article but I think the author sums it up really nicely.

> What actually separates “I lost my keys” from “I have ADHD” was never the presence of the behaviour. It’s the degree of impairment — how much it’s costing you, how often, for how long, etc.

ADHD can be a real dichotomy. On the one hand, yes you can be successful and holding down a good job. But you may be doing so by existing on the edge of burnout and questioning when everyone else figures out you are faking the competence they see in you.

But people often don't see the frustration, despair or how much work finding systems to work with or around your brain has gone into it too.

Sometimes, the most helpful part of diagnosis is that you can name the experience. Otherwise you end up concluding you're worse than everyone else.

Is it naive to assume that the agent will try and access anything on your disk, either accidentally or maliciously?

Permissions classifiers in auto mode are just models trying to guess if they're doing the right thing.

Claude Code will tell you that it went around a sandbox because the sandbox blocked it. At which point, you ask yourself the point of the sandbox.

I am conflicted with passkeys.

I actually prefer non-resident U2F in some ways. You don't have to store anything on your key, you are just signing requests. This is relevant where U2F/FIDO keys have limited slots for 'resident' keys.

In principle, it's great. You have one good password to remember for the average user, and that's enforced by their device's probably good enough security posture.

They are resistant to being phished and they won't reuse the same one everywhere. They then don't end up going from hunter2 to hunter2! everywhere.

But my experience for users is that they worry they are giving their biometrics to Amazon or whoever and so the UX just confuses them.

The certification aspect was new to me too last time passkeys came up. Sites can require that a given passkey has been certified.

The patchy support for them is also frustrating. MacOS does not support NFC FIDO/U2F. iOS does.

I always feel conflicted with this.

Using my password manager to store 2FA codes is convenient, but it adds a layer of indirection if they are elsewhere.

But if you've compromised my password manager, you almost certainly have enough access to my machines to get to the alternatives.

The REX issue is an interesting one.

The BMW i3 used what was basically a scooter engine. The Ampera/Volt used what was essentially an Opel Corsa engine (from memory).

Toyota's approach of using a small battery and modified atkinson cycle engine seems to have paid off. Taxi drivers love them and fuel economy is pretty consistent. But the engine is a core part of the process. So it isn't dead weight a lot of the time.

The real question is whether an 'Extended Range EV' is using a motor intended to work efficiently as just a generator or whether it's another parts bin special.

I've found that I can often stuck in tarpits on Safari for iOS with Wipr and iCloud Private Relay.

The worst trigger is searching Google from the address bar.

Loading the homepage first makes the problem notably less common. Or getting a couple wrong.

Kids benefit from being kids and rolling around in the grass.

In which cities are people favouring local parks over toilets?

Parasites can actually help with allergies. I am loosely aware of various attempts at treating allergies using parasites.

One of the approaches taken (under medical supervision) for kids with bad nut allergies is to gradually expose them to more of the allergen. Being able to survive a peanut or two without anaphylaxis is life-changing.

The idle cost of inverters can be quite high.

EcoFlow power stations draw somewhere around 30w with the inverter switched on with no load.

The idle power of a Mac Mini at the wall is a few watts total.

It's worth mentioning that the difference between playable and verified is sometimes just control mapping, or the wrong icons being shown, or default graphics settings need to be adjusted.

Games often run well when they aren't flagged as verified or playable too. The remapping UX via Steam/Steam OS is good enough that I've happily played a lot of keyboard and mouse-only games well too.

This is sad news, he was a very good actor.

One of my favourite roles I've seen him in was as Trymon in the TV version of Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic.
