Then you probably don't want to be funding the companies that want and intend for it to be locked behind proprietary doors.

What do you use?

Effectively it is. I hear relatively very few people talking about self-hosting it, or even just using one of those GPU rental services. It's all about claude, openai, gemini, if you haven't tried this week's model revision you can't complain, and so on.

What is so important on xitter? I've ended up following a link there at most a small handful of times in the last 5-10 years. I can't think of anything I would miss if it shut down tomorrow.

Right. All the boosters crowing about how amazing and so much better LLMs are than us are just doing marketing. Our jobs will be taken or ruined and people and companies will just be forced to get used to an even lower standard of quality as they've been doing already.

I'm having trouble understanding what effects that directive could have. Liability under what circumstances and to what degree?

Ah. First time I've seen either.

s/children/people/

I keep seeing this crop up in the id verification discussions. The same psychological processes that social media companies exploit in children exist in adults and have the same result. The problem isn't manipulating children, it's that they're manipulating everyone.

Seems like it, though this has a second puzzle with three candidates instead of two

I always assumed people were writing in LLMese themselves to mock it, not generating it.

He's clearly contrasting meeting people due to asking them questions or discussing a hobby/task versus using LLMs:

>As a teenager I tried to install Linux, ran into all kinds of problems, and went on the IRC chatrooms to get help. And in the process I made friends. Today, I would just ask Claude.

It could have been "repair my car" and "car forums" or "learn to knit" and "Reddit"

And further, he's saying that the dependence will diminish that life beyond computers:

>The people in the AI utopia will have no skills, no education, no accomplishments. We’ll be lucky if they are even literate. They will not be worth talking to, and you won’t want to hang out with them.

Can't see your link because it requires a google sign-in. But anecdotally earlier this year I stopped being able to visit SO due to cloudflare, whether it was enabling it at all or increasing its hostility level. Maybe they received a lot of bot traffic leading to this?

Hacker News is a left-wing echo chamber?

>human agents

What? Are you trying to say "people"?

Why use a crusty old linter when you can be AI-Native and 100x your load-bearing file formatting by orchestrating AI to do it? Do you want be left behind in the dust?
