The very clear evidence for security is obvious to anyone who has done a meaningful, deployed body of work.

Whatever the reason, Claude (Code in terminal; my experience domain), despite explicit direction:

- "never leak any secrets" - "never display any passwords" - "everything to the right of the first '=' sign on any given line is a value; never echo or process it bare"

… etc.

Notew hile working I accidentally echoed your Apple Keychain decrypted passwords. Oof sorry hehe"

Ahh yes, it is the technology that is the easiest gate to break down first. *takes puff on elaborately rare-wood pipe*

:shrugging emoji:

I remember long ago, when I first met a computer person in college and he told me about PCs vs UNIX, I asked him, "why don't they make it run on a PC?"

Running an open model locally on your own machine, and having it augment-train itself using your own sessions as the training input.

Author states, “Single developer projects can build to the caliber and consistency of large development teams.”

When I, as a single person, can produce a project in one month that would have taken a team of four people three months to produce, why would I care about token cost? I’m now spending $500/month instead of $40,000 month to get the same thing 3x faster. $500 for a project instead of $120,000. (Assumes my cost, $40k is the other three people)

It’s a no-brainer —- use frontier all the time.

Interesting -- seems to be a "Docker for music production" product in there somewhere

Agree. Opus 4.8 could make nice little toy and demo apps. This app had a lot of surfaces and pipeline, Postgres, vector search, S3 -- couldn't handle that. Fable 5 is still a lot of work and you have to check it, but it really does perform at senior eng level. Shipping good size features daily.

First day of work, immediately Ultracode refactor the entire codebase, do a massive 800k line force push to main, git comment, "Hey guys! First day, first commit -- fixed codebase with Claude. Hope this works!"

I've found Fable 5 to be so much better than 4.8.

For building a full stack custom CRM and media pipeline tool with video conversion, transcription, and indexing. Supabase, AWS, Meili, NextJS, GCS - lots of surfaces and planes.

4.8 basically couldn't do it, I abandoned the project as the fallback was, "current business processes".

With F5 it's been 4 weeks and almost ready for production release.

The high-level structures of writing are prose, poetry, and drama.

Cross cutting them is the purpose, these are not mutex: exposition, narrative, description, conviction.

There's also straight rambling nonsense.

Were you using Fable 5?

Ha, how many years spent reading it as re-flog and not ref-log. Flog the git!

Most developers just have a linear view of git, which is fine. Should I really care that origins are just named nodes on combined graphs? Like, I just want to check in my code before I have to merge someone else's.

Zero rebases since Fable 5.

Know the rules, fight the rules, I guess. More readable, but I’ve since regressed as tooling comes into play. Maybe it’s a good way to still use ems and differentiate from AI.
