In what way has life been better without them? I've been considering quitting them as well and I'd love to hear.

You should read the article. You'd realize that you're not actually vindicated by its contents.

What does the swasitka mean? I see it all over the map and assume it's not what it looks like to me.

Read his comment again. He says he rejected the $100 and then started arguing and threatening to go to court. That's when they started exploring banning him from the airline.

I believe the contract you enter into is that the airline will get you to your destination safely. I don't believe there's any special case there.

FWIW I think we should have the same laws in the US that you all have in the UK and EU.

I travel all the time. I've missed or been late to all sorts of events because of delayed, canceled, and diverted flights over the years. It's the nature of air travel. It's an extremely dynamic environment that is not in the complete control of the pilot or or the airline. To have the attitude that the company personally owes you because of something like that is, imo, ridiculous. I understand that there are extreme cases where the airline screws up and in those cases you should receive compensation. I once sat on the tarmac at JFK for 4 hours and JetBlue offered me a measly $50 voucher. A plane having mechanical trouble over the Amazon rainforest, diverting safely to a large and safe city, then getting put up in a hotel room for the night does not count as an extreme case of the airline screwing up.

Same. I really thought that was going to be the next sentence. Was honestly shocked when I kept reading. Such a strange attitude.

I'll never understand this attitude toward airlines. What did you want them to do in this situation? Keep flying the plane with engine issues so you could make your important meetings? It sounds like the airline did the right thing here but you were still mad?

After so much time hearing about how SpaceX dumps rocket debris all over Boca Chica it's kind of amusing that they're also leaving trash on the moon. It would be cool if we sent people back to the moon one day and they took photos next to junk like this. Or whatever is left of it.

I'd love a feature where if you enter a specific passcode it unlocks the phone into a different account that has curated things in it. Pictures, some pre-approved apps, etc. So you look like you've cooperated but you haven't really.

I've been looking into UniFi (Ubiquiti) and it seems like a decent option.

It has definitely seemed that way. People have been commenting about it on r/aviation.

> Regular adults like most of us here don't ever get such videos in their feeds

I know my story is just an anecdote but it really makes me question if this is even true. I search for things that I want to learn about on YouTube, often about wildlife or the environment, and get served a TON of AI slop. My feed is now full of it. It's extremely frustrating and has actually led to me using YouTube in this way a lot less over the last few months. I have been hoping that I'd be able to filter by this one day.

Depending on what the event is and why you were asked to speak telling the audience what they want to hear may be appropriate. If you're a consultant giving a presentation on how a business needs to change it's operations some hard truths may be necessary. At a graduation where students are going into an uncertain job market while loaded with debt... maybe save the hard truths. A little encouragement may be appropriate in that circumstance.
