I also just moved from Linux Mint to Cachy and haven't had to use a single AUR package (yet). I use some relatively obscure programs too.

I was nervous about this too - but it's "just" the AUR. That means it's only unofficial packages, which we should always take great care when installing anyway.

GitLab. There's also the option of self hosting it on a cheap server if you don't like cloud services.

Python venv's is the #1 reason I've avoided working with it more. It used to be #2 behind strong typing, but now that Linux OSes' take up the default python install and block it from being used for quick scripts, it jumped to #1.

I've always wondered why Linux OSes that rely on python scripts don't make their own default venv and instead clobber the user's default python environment...

For people who want an easier approach, both NethServer and Cloudron have this packaged as an app for people who self host. The Cloudron one is not official yet and is a community developed one.

Would the author (or most people) have read the documentation before doing this action? I doubt it.

This series will really make you examine social hierarchies, including the ones that exist today. They are no accident.

I would agree with "should be obvious" if this was a sports news website :D. Sorry, sometimes us nerds need more context or a title will seem misleading / clickbait-y.

The article sure could use a picture.

Edit: now that I realize from the article its 16" circumference it's less surprising, and I can imagine what it would look like. The title should mention it is circumference.

I get the draw, and it's amusing, and it works; but I come here for tech topics - not clickbait. It's always nice to see the -1's to remind me that I'm barely a fit for this site! :D

I wish fewer sites would resort to 4 letter words in their titles to grab attention. These days, a title like this makes me assume the product itself is not interesting enough for me to look at.
