I though I knew TypeScript pretty well, but I can barely read that.

I often wish vehicles were equipped with a regular horn and a "polite" horn. As in "don't mean to be a bother, but the light is green now. Whenever you're done checking your phone is fine."

Man, I wish we didn't have so much plastic, but I do what I can, and that includes never microwaving anything in plastic. If it's a microwave dinner (generally the ones I like are in paper trays) I pop it onto a plate and cover it with a paper towel.

I'm trying to find a solution to my Aeropress that tastes as good. Taking suggestions? (I've tried Chemex and french press, haven't been able to get the same flavor)

> In order to make the buildings look smaller, less intimidating and messy, architects have come up with a "four or six windows in one" solution.

Is there a source for this assumption? "Architects have come up with..." makes it sound like there was an explicit discussion about how to make the building look smaller. A) Why would a Vegas hotel want to look smaller, B) Does it actually look smaller? C) Smaller than what? A building with no windows? A building with too many windows?

I'm not suggesting Architects are getting too much credit. I'm just suggesting, maybe the monster building had a terrible architect(s), and the Vegas buildings didn't use terrible architects.

Magic decorators is the trigger, I think.

Must be in office. Must work at least 40 hours per week. Eliminated days of rest. As if twitter's problems are caused by "employees not working enough".

I dunno how else to put it. Having EVERYTHING on AWS is a national security threat.

This isn't good, and someone who can do something about it needs to.

Is the light bending around some gravitational point, or is that an* artifact of the telescope itself?

If the former, that is astounding.

Edit: nvm I think I figured it out myself. There are objects next to smeared galaxies that are not distorted. The distorted objects must be behind the gravitational field, and the un-distorted objects in front.

WHAT.

The like / dislike ratio is EXTREMELY useful. I'm very disappointed that they would do this. I expect it will be much harder to avoid useless content with this removed.

It took me a long time but I finally got over the never-ending desire for ever sharper lenses. 50mm is a general purpose lens. Not like macro or super-telephoto. Sharp enough to get the gist of the image without being distractingly blurry is good enough.

Can you image if the hull did weaken to the point of near failure? They might have needed to offload everything right there where it ran aground, lest it completely fail uncontrolled. The canal would be closed for a very long time. Luckily they didn't have to make that call.

As a former Nikon user, that writing has been on the wall for a long time now. At lease 3 years when they first reported "catastrophic losses" They didn't have enough diversity to weather the rise of the smartphone, whereas Canon, Fujifilm, Sony, all have other lines of business to keep them afloat.

Really sad since they made such a great camera line. Perhaps a buyout is still possible.

Developers casually looking at source code vs nation states paying teams of hackers to find exploits. With the goal not being to steal money, but to steal a government.

I can understand why it's not open source.

I am surprised that there is no digital option to preselect your candidates before going to the polling place. i.e. Make your choices, receive QR code. Go to polling place, scan, verify selections on voting machine, press big red button and walk out of there.

If each vote took 1 minute instead of 10, would there still be a line?

edit: Or if not shorter lines, maybe 5 voting machines instead of 20? or 4 poll workers instead of 10? Seems more efficient all around.
