It refuses to open files it doesn't like the filetype of, it won't save as an arbitrary filetype, it defaults to being a variable-width font and it has a few too many bells and whistles because it's clearly meant to edit RTF files, I'd say. Sometimes you want something completely spartan.

> New Bloomberg Terminal for 2 EUR / month

no it isn't, good content, bad title

while I'm hopeful google will be responsible long-term maintainers of this accessibility feature, given their "ship and drop" attitude (music, reader, podcasts, stadia...) I'm glad they've chosen to open source this. In any case, an exciting project!

if there were, globally, no copyright at all in any "ai" generated images, and one confidently thought there never would be, then simply using the images, in the case that one only needed one or two images, would probably be fine.

however if there were large nations in which the law was still in flux or unclear, or one wanted to generate new images on the fly without fear of rate-limiting or refusal of service, then one would potentially wish to work out an arrangement.

the thing I've found teaching is that the place scratch really shines is teaching kids who are a bit too young to "get" Python. I think it's related to their language/visual intuition but a seven year old will be able to pick up quite complex things in Scratch visually without being able to grasp fairly basic things in Python. Give them a couple of years in the oven with or without Scratch and they'll be much more confident and ready in picking up Python, but scratch can teach them a lot in the mean time.

I was obsessed with scratch as a child. It was my way in to computer programming, and I've taught in schools using it. It's an incredible tool and I'll hype it up any chance I get! It really is a miracle!

this comment section is a little grim, I guess it's a bit expected that the audience for hacker news skews nerdy, single and male, but it feels worth saying that you're still likely all fairly attractive guys! hang on to a good attitude, care deeply about the things you care about, get a good barber and you'll be out of the dating abyss soon!

can confirm, went from being a 5/10 guy to a 5/10 trans woman, attitude changes real fast when you go from 0 matches to too many matches (and loads of guys aren't even interested in trans women!)

The disparity also makes tinder basically useless since it's clear that many guys are just swiping right on everyone, sure in their head they do believe they'll take what they can get, but if they're not doing any filtering then the fundamental contract of the swipe system is broken, that both of you are actively and on consideration interested in one another.

>If you say that there are only two genders I’ll drag you

is my drag not free speech too? If one insults me (or says something to me I consider insulting), I should be allowed to insult them right back, right?

Free speech is "about" whatever is in the first amendment

Lol, USAian moment, how about the other 7.7 billion of us?

I am not a liberal. Many people are not. The paradox of tolerance is the easy counterarguement to this.

If you choose to never do anything in response to the things people say that's your perogative, I on the other hand can listen just fine to other people and my response to the things they say might be to tell them to stop saying it. "I don't believe you should be allowed to say this without consequence" is also a thing one can say.
