I want to talk about my experience with Argon, noting that I used it via OpenRouter on a Raspberry Pi, spending around $15 in credit.

My experience is that Google is aiming to create a generalist model – but a truly generalist one! In fact, I find it particularly accurate in general terms and even in long conversations, maintaining excellent consistency and a wealth of information in response to complex questions.

I’ve tested it both as a coding agent – though, precisely because of what I mentioned above about its ‘generalism’, I don’t think it measures up to Fable 5.1 or Astra – and I’ve really appreciated its qualities when supervising my agents’ activities. It was able to keep track of them, suggest alternatives, and monitor the entire lengthy process in parallel without ever straying too far from the request or losing the thread – as often happens with Claude and OpenAI (you only need to test it in Claude Code itself, in both Ultracode and the agent team mode – albeit experimental – to realise how, once the task gets underway, both of them lose their way).

I don’t agree that it’s being sold below cost, at least as far as inference is concerned. One piece of data on which we could base our assessment, for example, is the DeepInfer release that DeepSeek published last week, in which it also stated that a cluster generates around $38 per GPU per hour, even at the lowest rate. In 2025, he had estimated the cost of renting a GPU at around two dollars per hour, with energy costs amounting to around 0.10 per hour per GPU. Obviously, this cannot be applied directly to Anthropic and OpenAI, as they publish figures for their own models and are likely larger organisations. However, even with costs that are many, many times higher, the margin on a single token remains substantial. It must be said that the price covers not only inference, but also training, research, free users and investments that need to be recouped. So ‘the individual token is profitable’ and ‘the business might not be sustainable’ could both be true. The separation between memory and processor isn’t going to disappear any time soon, but unified memory is already available in laptops, with an RTX Spark costing between $3,000 and $4,000 for a usable configuration. With competition – for example, from Intel, which has been working on power efficiency for years – prices will fall and on-premises models will become the norm, particularly in businesses.

I can confirm that the priority is alwys given to credentials, as they themselves state in the documentation they updated yesterday: https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15036540-use-the-clau... Essentially, in the -p option, if an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is present, it is always used instead of the login; see here https://code.claude.com/docs/en/authentication#authenticatio..., so I would suggest you check your environment variables

It’s also worth noting that, on antigravity, within the same 5-hour and weekly timeframes, the models work for the whole group, and Claude and GPT share the same group. So it’s more generous than the distributors themselves :)
