if and when the AI bubble bursts, we'll know if local models will hold up. Assuming the cyclical pullback in investment is strong enough to see local machines with 512gb or more of RAM

Ducklake works well. So far it is still under active development (post AWS acquisition). There is support for local disk-based and remote S3 based datalakes, so integration tests become really easy. Seems stable and all the bugs I've found have already been patched.

Treatments like hormone therapy for estrogen positive breast cancer are meant to attack the cancer's metabolic signaling mechanism. Intermittent fasting, like taking 12 hour breaks with no food every day, is something else that you can do to try and stress cancer cells.

With our consumption humans are drawing down on the ‘reserve’ that ecological services have built up.

Human activities lack the sophistication of an ecosystem that is in balance and cannot recreate the network of benefits thereof.

I think your judgement here sets aside the value of ecosystems in balance.

Tropical forest ecosystems with introduced species thrive in a way others (e.g. boreal and oak savannas) do not.

Not all ecosystems are resilient enough to handle invasive species, and can be destroyed with the introduction of a single aggressive species.

The post war scientific edifice is being shattered in a monumental act of vandalism.

It’s not just defunding childhood cancer research, but also dismantling the very idea of agency in the broader society. Science and basic research are worth pursuing. And the cost is a pittance.

> Moreover what kind of habit of thought are you in that being called out for that is read as vitriol?

That’s as much a matter of personal identity as a ‘habit of thought’, friend. Otherwise, we could we comment on the basis of _your_ perspective as some mutable affectation, no?

You see, we are shadows of ourselves. An inquisitive play, or let’s say a “judgment” about Cuda economics: aspirational, errant? Then, the linguistic phalanx: honed no doubt by long running needs to be heard and seen and listened to.

Awesome news! I'm glad for the workers and their families. That is a great wage and one that will pay dividends in terms of their health and the health of their communities.

Exactly this.

Tbh, i would expect some developer working on this feature to have an ‘a-ha’ moment: ‘I’m a homebrew user … hey wait a minute’

Alternatively, they could extract the compression code and maintain it for repo tags created before the git algo update release date.

Isn’t that the only humane course given all that depends on this?
