How is 'BDU' not the top choice?

My 'smart' fridge came with an app. Which only function is to perform diagnostics on the fridge when something goes wrong. A while ago, the fridge stopped cooling. I ran the diagnostics, which reported everything as A-OK. A service call found that the compressor had died. So, yeah, they cannot even do the basics, let alone something actually useful.

Reading Bukowski often makes me yearn for a life that could have been. An often miserable, always irresponsible, but often wonderful life. Of course, his real life was probably far less glamorous than he makes it sound, but, man, did he have a way with words.

I have been struggling to get serial comms going with a TESmart KVM because the ethernet interface is stupid and I lost comms after a misconfiguration and there is no way to factory reset the device. That was not going any better and I ended up purchasing a null modem adapter (at an eye-wateringly high price) because of course I threw away a drawer full of serial adapters a decade ago.

The person I am replying to is an obvious troll, but it is worth mentioning that there is very little to "test in court". Basic copyright law says that you cannot copy someone else's code and distribute software based thereon. *GPL* provides a workaround, provided that you follow the terms of the license. If a court were to invalidate all of AGPL, the default fallback would simply be that nobody is able to distribute the software.

It depends on the building use. In residential buildings, people do tend to go to / from ground but in my building the parking garage has entrances on levels 1-4, the gym on 3-4 and the garden on 5. That distorts the traffic pattern.

The company where I work occupies an entire office building, so there is lots of travel between floors.

I have been using the feature for ages, and it really does work, but it is by no means 'hidden'. It's just an iOS feature.

Yes I use an Elgato deck with my Mac but this specific tool showed as Windows-only when I tried to install it.

That's my experience too. I mostly don't pick up calls from numbers that I don't recognize. On the very rare occasion that I am expecting such a call, I always stay silent after picking up. A real human will without fail start talking after a second or two.

Yuk. Windows only and closed source. Pass.

There was a window between the early 2000s and the late 2010s when self-hosted telephony made sense. But these days, there are so many cheap commercial services that it is almost impossible to justify the cost of maintaining your own voice infrastructure. Moreover, the proliferation of spam / scam calls has tarnished the perception phone interactions so much that most people avoid them at all costs.

And the few people who do still use the phone absolutely, unequivocally do not want to talk to an AI voice agent ever.

I don't believe Namecheap ever did that, unless that was in the distant past. Never had a problem with them.

Wasn't there a recent discussion here, where it was pointed out that leap seconds are about to be phased out in less than 10 years' time? I would be extremely surprised if a negative leap second was implemented before then, given that IERS already balked at doing that several years ago.

Anything can happen of course, but my actuarial life expectancy is at least 30 years from now. I am 95% certain that my safe deposit box in my bank (where my info is currently stored) will still exist then. What are the odds of this site surviving that long?
