I thought the article was going to be about system prompts, or model specs, or "constitution documents".

Isn't it?

Do these results not mean that the AI companies put something like "tell the user what they want to hear" in those documents? (Or whatever phrase would produce those results.)

Thank you for a good laugh! Very well done. :)

Since this is a post about a programming tool, I expected links to repositories. I like to pick up a tool and turn it around in my hands before I decide if it is a good tool or not.

I set up a local BBS-like system and used the real NetZero* dialer to call it and attempt to log in. Then I changed my password and repeated the process several times.

That gave me the key to the Caesar cipher they used for the password.. so I could create a fresh account with a scrambled password any time I wanted.

At runtime, in the OS-provided ad-free dialer, I'd use the unscrambled password.

I also pre-created some accounts with unscrambled passwords like "apple" and "bicycle" to share with friends.

NetZero* ceased operations mere weeks after I started this.. Hm.

(* Was it NetZero specifically, or some clone? I forget..)

Y'all let the public in before finishing your wait-list. I joined the list on 2023-03-02.

Y'all didn't email me that signups were going to be public.

Y'all didn't email me when signups actually went public. I found out about it here.

...And, let's see.. Yep, my handle is taken.

PSA: there is an Android application named "Google" (sic) which is a browser, but it's not Chrome. This browser application stores every interaction (browsing history, etc) on the server-side. My mother-in-law uses it .. to buy sweaters from bloggers? She uses it for everything. And yes, she thinks the internet is just named Google. :(

Thank you! I see now that "cloud variables" are a specific feature of Scratch projects.

dnsge, would you be willing to help me carry out some research? Could you please explain in your own words, that is, without doing any searches, what a cloud variable is?

I'm 40, and I started on Commodore Basic, but my son is 11, and he started on Scratch. I'm curious where this will go. :)

Huh. You can't rewind/fast-forward/seek these "shorts" videos. (Well, I can't, with my particular browser/os/county/screen-dimensions/etc combo.)

Using the "download PDF" feature resolved that on my Firefox. Though, I don't seem to have gained much by seeing it rendered correctly.

I think the commenter means that mechanical watches don't keep time as well as digital watches. So, I guess they are optimized for mechanical beauty instead of timekeeping.
