Yeah this is super out of date. I work on one of these platforms as a developer, and basically none of our work is labelling data or viewing child porn. It's entirely RL Envs, and pay starts at $35 an hour and goes up to $100.

Edit: And neither our company (a very active, profitable company that sells data to almost all major AI players) nor none of our relevant competition is on this map for some reason. Mercor, Scale, Surge, and Snorkel would be the top players I'd expect to see here. This map has none of them?

It does have Cognizant, which is a international body shop / cheap consultancy that's been around long before LLMs, and mostly builds cheap software fast for existing companies. It also has NextWealth, a company with approximately 1% of the revenue of even the smallest stateside RL Env and labelling players. I'm not sure this map displays literally any meaningful data about the "global labor powering AI"?

That matters.

It's not geography, it's politics. Low taxes, general amenability to big businesses, and low ecological restrictions.

I happen to know for a fact that Palantir licenses the name from the estate at an exorbitant yearly fee.

Xbox controller support on the Steam Deck has worked seamlessly for me with 0 extra setup, I'm not sure what you're talking about?

Streaming has been ok, but I've had the same issues as the parent commenter, with the stream dying for whatever reason every hour or so.

In addition to the Z's everyone else pointed out, Scrabble boards are 15 tiles across. This is 16 letters. You fool. You utter gumdrop.

Breaking up a giant PR can be a tedious, time-consuming hassle, and in the past I could sympathize in practice if someone had a giant PR they didn't have time to decompose once they got it working.

But it's also the exact sort of thing that LLMs are literally perfect for in my experience so there's really no excuse anymore. I've never seen Claude fail to turn a 5k PR into a well-decomposed Graphite stack.

I'd really argue the bugs were introduced in version 5 but people were so excited by the promise of new features they sold well anyway.

I have talked my wife out of us both nearly impulse-buying a mini greenhouse at Costco multiple times.

And the worst part is, I regret it. We need a greenhouse now and greenhouse prices are through the roof! I can't afford NOT to impulse buy a greenhouse at Costco 18 months ago now! I'll never make that mistake again.

> " latest fad for layoffs"

What are you referring to here? The latest fad before AI was crypto, or maybe "the metaverse" and I don't think anyone credited those for layoffs. Before that, the latest large round of layoffs was during what, 2008? And the blame for that was correctly laid on the very real economic collapse occurring.

There's nothing stopping people from decorating their boutique stores (or personal blogs, portfolios, and fan websites) the way they want. And that's fun and delightful for me, as a visitor, just like boutique shops are IRL.

But I really don't need that quirkiness at Home Depot, the DMV or my bank (or Amazon, or government websites, or my banking site). I'm there to purchase some screws, register my car or pick up some checks. I just need a storefront (or a website) that lets me do that as fast and homogenously as possible.

99.9% of stores (and UIs) are the latter, not the former.

The P/E of that box is 1...This isn't a difficult calculation.

You're still manually posting? All of my HN posting, trolling, shitposting and spamming is taken care of by a fleet of bots I vibecoded in the last 5 minutes.

> Of course they would! If the P/E of a company is 1.1 it is overvalued by definition so why would anyone buy an over valued company?

This is obviously untrue. Would you sell a box that spits out $1 million dollars a year for 1 million dollars?
