On the customer side of things, there's no way to "prove" how effective coaches really are since there is no hurdle to entry and they aren't accredited.
It's not like framing a house or software engineering or legal counsel, in that way.
Another downside might just be the vicarity of it. Instead of spending time and energy improving yourself, you're focused on improving others. Some of your biggest success cases may leave you feeling oddly empty. Maybe there's a case where helping a client becomes directly at odds with helping yourself - which do you choose?
The personality upkeep. Coaches, instructors, and mentors aren't really allowed to have off days - you are the beacon that moves others forward. You have to act and be motivating, positive, and encouraging no matter how you're actually feeling that day, or when you have a rude or uncharismatic client.
Low pay overall ($384 in 7 months). My strong opinion is that nobody should do any in-person client work of any kind (photography, massage, therapy, coaching) for less than $50 USD per hour, given communications overhead and transportation costs. If the work in question is valued at less from your research, there's not enough opportunity to justify doing it IMO (at least not for the money) - unless you see some trajectory where it scales or amplifies. If you can offer the service completely virtually and bring on other mentors, that's an example of a trajectory where it scales.
Sometimes you have a great idea and passion that just needs a slight change in how it's brought to market.
They're pretty flawless at any framework now, React, SwiftUI, Unity - literal skill issue if you can't get good code out of an LLM.
If an LLM can write a nuanced paragraph about any topic, it can certainly write a simple [insert popular framework] component which has considerably less potential variation.
Consider that there are 100k+ words in English, 90k+ in Spanish, and 77 in C# (38 in JavaScript!).
The LLM can write code.
Can it make software? No. Because software is a lot more than code.
But the LLM can write code.
Any anti-AI takes moving forward are going to have to acknowledge that I think
The cuties with cooties
Corporate duties and African rubies
It's the doobies and boobies
That see K's like Louie
Shake out the loogies
And K-shape the Louis
A mod literally reworded my title and it doesn’t say that anywhere lol
Come on guys
Sometimes they will [dead] a joke just because it was a joke. Not even offensive just grumpy mod doesn’t want humor so it’s gone.
But that is gutting the site of all its good content.
All that remains is “kagi” “Claude” and the same 4 topics
Problem is you’re ruining the site
I don’t know what the reason for a mod to mark so many harmless often useful things as [dead] could be.
Sometimes a mod will appear and totally rip a person apart for what I felt was a regular comment. I see power tripping mods here have a mental breakdown over non-issues and ban people and remove all their comments ever posted.
Think of a typical news site with millions of ads flying in as you try to read - they are the causers of this shit ad world
Look what happened to YouTube after the news showed up there.
Look at the clusterfuck that is housing and banking.
Compare how any other vertical is ran by the main players vs Finance and Media - the two most shittily ran industries in the West.
