Every day I drive through the counties that handed Trump his victory. Trust me the decline is real.

Must be nice to worry about the messenger. I’ll worry about the toxins DuPont dumped in the local water or the lead leeching from my tap.

But hey, I can afford to boil pasta with bottled water, so who cares?

Jee, here I thought the World Service (the only BBC I can get) was targeted at me :S

Radio liberty was forbidden from transmitting in the US by Congress.

What’s you’re point?

Do you point out that the BBC is owned/paid by the British government when someone posts BBC? (or NPR for that matter)

Sexually explicit information of children.

We generally believe that sexual exploitation of children is worse than of an adult. We don’t allow for consensual sexual relations, creation or mere posesion of explicit material with a child.

In fact drawings of said material can get you in a lot of trouble in many, liberal, countries.

That being said, I hate what the internet has become.

No. Moving from SF to NYC is not easier than moving to the Central Valley. The difficulties are different.

When I was six we moved to the easiest place to move to: early 90s greater Toronto Area. No crime. Lots of jobs. Lots of good will from the natives. It was tough.

The Central Valley is ravaged by unique social issues. To dismiss the issues because it’s cheap to live there is insane.

It’s glass - it’a not pixie dust doped adamantium.

Metals arent particularly strong. Glass, plastics, etc are all stronger (yield strength). But boy are they ductile, and very tough. Iron can take, literally, an infinite number of loading cycle.

You can make ceramics, glass, etc better but the overall performance package of iron is very hard to beat.

If I were to dismiss SpaceX as 1950s technology with modern electronics and engine technology the soviets mastered in the 60s would you be annoyed?

So why dismiss the truck manufacturing industry? Semis are very thought out solutions for their domain.

I’ve moved 15 times to a different city (about half of them international). I’m in my early 30s.

Moving to a different city is hard. The older they get the harder it is. Most people can’t do it.

Did you read the article?

Do you have grad school experience? An $1800 grad stipend will help you understand the difference a few hundred bucks make.

Have you tried renting in Cali? The landlord will laugh at your face when you show up four folks for a studio.

The few months I lived in Cali I had a well paying job, and it still took me a month to find a place to stay.

Reasons I was refused rent included:

- I didn’t have too much work experience (grad school doesn’t count as a job)

- I had a girlfriend, who lived in the East coast, and would visit me frequently

- I didn’t have a green card (I had OPT)

- I worked for a start up, and the landlord didn’t like renting to startups folks

Finally I got a condo in real bad shape for 1400/mo.

You might object that 1400 is not that bad, but I was 1.5 hours north of LA.

A PhD is literally )as in that’s what the abbreviation stands for ) a license to teach. It’s origins are exactly in training people to pass the torch of knowledge.

Look at the Greats, or even professors until the 50s, they only had at most 6 grad students their entire career.

Many modern professors have as many students a year.

No, it doesn’t. It refers to the executive. Whenever we complain about the poor quality of government, (the VA, DMV,) we’re complaining about an organ of the executive (be it federal, state or municipal).

In fact the word govern implies executive.
