Also note that HN seems to check comments using Pangram now, so citing LLM text (or article text that was written by an LLM) can get it (the comment) shadowbanned. In your case the citation is just a small fraction of the whole comment though.

RGB is also highly unintuitive by itself. Because additive color mixing is unintuitive. There is no way of knowing what RGB mixture corresponds to yellow unless you have memorized it.

Also important: the title. If the title strikes a nerve, even a crap article will occasionally get upvoted.

They are supported by JPEG XL (libjxl ≥ 0.11), Chrome just doesn't support them yet. See

This is a crazy story. 28 years. Crossing the Bering Strait by foot, swimming across the English Channel after they didn't let him walk through the Channel Tunnel, etc. I wonder what his main source of income is/was.

I think the case for JPEG XL is not that it's the best at everything, but that it is both quite good overall while also supporting basically every obscure image format feature under the sun. It's the potential USB of image formats.

The first Apple chips with AV1 support only came out in 2023. So the majority of Apple hardware out there doesn't support it. It will be a long time till support is at >95%.

It's a related question which clearly has some relevance here, even though the case is not completely analogous.

Yes. There is some old regex (probably written 20 years ago) which automatically tries to improve the titles. One of the more silly rules is to remove "how" from the beginning.

That's downplaying the massive increase in LLM capabilities relative to the modest decrease in human capabilities.

It's more that LLMs increasingly outperform humans in finding vulnerabilities, so the share of human discoveries goes down.
