All the more remarkable given we all have research tools that can answer such questions immediately.

I’ve never had to replace an iPhone battery and I’ve probably owned 20 phones and used and passed on my old ones.

Can you suggest anything? I really don’t understand the demand.

To me making steady progress on well designed core products is very useful.

Personally I’d love better multitasking on my phone which is why the duo is attractive.

I agree on watch battery life that sucks.

Not sure why hardware design changes are a good thing on their own. The Apple Watch is well designed I’m not sure what I would improve except battery life and maybe taking the sharp edges off the Ultra.

The demand for change on its own is an odd one for me and not very Apple.

I’m not going to upgrade to get this, however given most devices are touch screen it has become almost expected. Sometimes you just want to move something with your fingers even if it’s not the main input method.

Personally I find I miss touch screen after using my iPad and Magic Keyboard for extended periods and then switching back to the laptop. I mostly use the keyboard but it’s very nice to be able to scroll, position things, etc

He also thought people didn’t want big phones and tablets.

What do you want them to come out with instead?

These are the devices people use all day every day. Iterating on them makes sense.

They are also working on AirPods with vision, released a home hub with display, released AR goggles, releasing GPU heavy servers, creating a framework for AI interfaces, …

Are you hoping for a replicator or transporter?

The Duo does have a killer use case at least for me: multitasking

Game + Video

Messaging + Browsing

App + Development

Notes + Research

etc

I assume you mean unsubstantiated.

The numbers are out there for all. Dropping token prices. Rising borrowing rates. Absurd contractual commitments. Commoditizing technology.

They are building it to solve their own problems, probably in many specific ways that make it less generalizable.

Making a complex system like this available for general use cases, especially when it's still under active feature development, is hard. It also commits you to providing documentation, upgrade paths, incorporating changes that aren't useful to you and may also cause problems for you, and just generally complicating development and maintenance immensely to the point of drastically slowing development.

My guess is when it's stable or they start building their next version control system, they will start opening it up.

I know especially in this day and age when developing from scratch is so easy, I write most software for myself first and it's way faster to develop than trying to build shared bits. That isn't great for the future of software, however the tragedy of the commons isn't anyone's problem, by definition.

That's a great idea. I may just try it.

Sneaky and a little icky, but novel enough to pass.

Something tells me it's not just coffee machines that do this, it's lots of appliances that have useful online capabilities.

My LG washer/dryer tell me when loads are done and when someone lets wet clothes sit in the washer. This is priceless. But yeah they are probably profiling my house.
