It seems like we've all just... given up on certificate revocation? CRLs and OCSP were designed for exactly this sort of thing, but they both seen to have been abandoned as unworkable with no replacement.

Right - the only way we'll ever get a truly uncensored internet is if it's actually impossible to censor rather than some "gentlemen's agreement" that we'll censor this stuff for the Greater Good but not this other stuff.

That's the definition of censorship, so yes.

From what I can tell, the best she can possibly hope for is to be set free after a few hundred thousand dollars in legal fees. I see this as a consequence of increasingly out of control automation.

Has she openly opposed Trump? I don't recognize the name, and the linked article is pretty vague.

But neither do the vast majority of humans.

But the horses themselves got the better end of the deal - they spend all their time in the field eating hay rather than pulling carts.

I can't quite tell from the linked article - are the accusers themselves anonymous here? I'm not sure there's anybody to actually pursue.

> not a primary part of the conversation for accusations of other crimes like arson, theft, embezzlement

I've never heard of anybody's life being ruined over an accusation of arson that was dropped for lack of evidence (or even later proven to be false). As long as the consequences of the accusation are greater, the scrutiny will be, too.

And if you want to use the (safety oriented!) CarPlay functionality, you HAVE to enable Siri, even if you'd rather not have the damned thing listening to you all the time.

Is this a problem with Claude updating code that a human wrote, though? Would Claude do better on code that it started on its own? Humans have a bad tendency to write unmaintainable code (usually at the behest of managers breathing down their necks to HURRY UP even when it doesn't matter). If the code had been designed with good coding practices from the beginning, I wonder if Claude would have struggled so much with it.

Is it devs that haven't internalized this? Or management? Because I'd love to do this, but I always report to people who demand that everything be done in "a few days".

I live in an HOA. The only place they post information (like when trash pickup schedules change) is on Facebook.

And if they don't, what then? What does a post-job society look like? I'm skeptical of communism, but I'm skeptical because it doesn't work in a society where some people need to do something (like raise crops) but aren't incentivized to do so. But if there's actually nothing humans need to do? The question is, will we reach logical conclusions peacefully or violently?

I remember when I was in 2nd grade or so (so, around 1982 or so), our teacher read us a passage from a book predicting the future: "and in the future, robots will do all the work so that people don't have to!" Even at 8 years old, I could see the problem with that: who decides who gets to live in the big house at the top of the hill and who has to live where I live?
