I do the same and truly think others are just control freaks that enjoy restricting agents (human or AI) from being productive and also enjoy keeping their worthless selves in the loop for a false sense continued relevancy.

We all ASSUME that.
For all we know, inference might be dirt cheap, they might just be hiking the API prices so high for us to think subscriptions are subsidized.

I built https://GitFar.com to clone my private repos off GitHub and host them without their limits using 100%-GitHub compatible APIs! It is stateless, and only uses system tools like rg and git! Gives me complete freedom which I can truly enjoy pairing it with ZFS subvolumes tuned for the different content types in my repos (text, images, video, etc.)!
Nothing that claimed to be a better GitHub was even GitHub enough to begin with.
GitFar an internal a drop-in replacement for our devs to just change the hostname and keep using exactly the same APIs with exactly the same request and response shapes with extensions delivered through request and response headers!

Cloak windows from screen capture! Perfect for keeping things private while screen sharing over Teams, etc.! All other tools in the Store would trigger virus warnings when I tried to install them. Some were positioned to ask for money for basic features. My app is both free with more features and a more intuitive UI and set of keyboard shortcuts!
