Given that chicken scratch in the margins gets into bills that are voted upon, it seems unlikely that this would be accepted by Congress. Love it though.

Caught Muse on my partner's laptop last night copying everything on your clipboard btw. I'm sure those are fired back to HQ and that logic doesn't at least _attempt_ to ignore passwords.

A completely predictable outcome of being under regulated and having several disastrous outcomes.

Unfortunate, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Yeah maybe I'll play around with different precision, I did see improvement when I went from fp4 to full fidelity though.

This is my setup for Home Assistant voice, parakeet for STT, GLM 5.3 to generate responses, and Kokoro for TTS. I use local routing for simple commands like turn on the lights, but if I want to ask questions or something, it gets routed to GLM 5.3. It is basically free, half a cent per turn maybe, so in a month I may spend a dollar? Not even usually.

I found parakeet to be very good and pretty darn fast, ~20-50ms, accuracy around 9/10 whenever I've run tests. In practice the error rate is not too big of an issue because the output is fed into GLM 5.3 so it'll figure it out if it sees "heather" instead of "weather".

Much larger though, I think I went full precision and its around 2GB.

Is this not just how life|universe|etc works? It doesn't seem surprising to me that a crow will hack a reward system if you let it and an AI will do it as well. Many/most humans do it.

Seems like something more fundamental.

High key, maybe look at Gerhard Schröder for the same thing. His ceding of sovereignty over Germany's energy infrastructure and subsequent board seat at Gazprom is a flashing red siren.

It wasn't that they were out of the running for a few months, it was a year and a half.

That's too long to be so far behind. This release looks like it puts them back in it but if they don't ship anything again for a year plus it's hard to imagine building on top of them and watching the world go by.

As others note, this is most relevant for us here, Google does not need to chase YC developers and the like. They can move more slowly, they have the size to do that. But it does suggest a lot of dysfunction given they have the world at their fingertips and couldn't seem to ship anything for a year.

Yes, if they are an adversary, the company should have been dissolved and leaders and board in jail.

But this was a bad faith temper tantrum, plain to see for anybody looking.

Naw, you had the knack.

That article, and your quote, doesn't seem to support your pushback.

Of course, if a solar panel is broken, ground up and falls into a canal, it would put some heavy metals into the water.

The risk is basically zero and far lower than any other power generation source. It is a nonsense, bad faith "concern".

Sure do! But people die in a few days without potable water, crops are usually more drought resistant.

And yes, I do get the point that if you suggested we build $6B desalination plants to grow lettuce people would balk and say, "That's not worth the money!". We should use less water on crops.

No, this is a right wing talking point against solar that isn't based in fact.

And as of the writing of this comment, ~7pm, about 25% of CA's grid is supplied by batteries: https://www.caiso.com/todays-outlook/supply

I was shocked when I saw how much batteries contribute, honestly don't hear about them much but they have scaled a lot in recent years.
