I find it so odd to claim that explaining my prior experience is "ragebait". It's what I experienced over 100s of stays, consistently.

That's only _part_ of what I experienced though. I stopped using the service by my own volition. They have changed some rules since, but those fees and rules were not the tipping point. The decline in service, misadvertising of spaces, poor customer service and general decline in value stop me from continuing to use AirBnB.

I've been forced into an AirBnB recently, and it was the same nonsense. I could not pull into the driveway because the curb was incorrectly built. Host argued with me that it was fine, drove over and couldn't get their OWN car into it. Then they claimed they hadn't been to the property "in months" and "since the work was done"????? They told me I could park at a nearby grocery store and walk over, but they wouldn't be refunding me. AirBnB sided with them. I logged everything with photos (including the hosts car unable to get into the driveway), screenshots and had my company file a chargeback.

Doesn't even make it into my top 50 worst experiences. Total joke.

I travel for work a lot and was forced to use airbnb by my former company.

Nothing about this is ragebait. Clean after yourself was the norm, cleaning fees often a full days cost or more, and I had bookings that I never checked into make claims about stains or damage!

Most hosts were bad by hotel standards. I will never use one on my own volition.

I've just hit 2 million miles last week.

All of this is true, and no matter how much you do it, it's still all true.

I can't even keep track of what I'm supposed to do at my own home airport that I've been to thousands of times. Some people know me on a first name basis there, and still act judgmental when something was (seemingly randomly) changed and I don't know about it.

TSA is by far the worst in the USA though. Their expectation that you do exactly what you should, without telling you what to do, while constantly changing the rules, is infuriating. Often there'll be 2-3 lines and DESPITE HAVING THE SAME SCANNERS, they'll have different unspoken rules that you are literally yelled at over.

They make sense for sound designers and derivative artists (e.g. sampling, which is a real artform).

Forms of manipulation bring inaudible content into the audible range.

Of course that doesn't mean audiophiles aren't being audiofooled by it, but there is legitimate usage.

You've created problems that don't exist. They're concerns that most people don't have.

You don't know what to say. That's fine.

You might be wasting their time. That's fine.

You might not know how to end the conversation. That's fine.

It's ok to be awkward. It's ok to be honest. It's ok to bother people as long as you take their feedback appropriately. It's ok to walk away without saying anything.

The more often that you talk to people and actively reflect on the REAL outcomes of it, the sooner you'll realize those concerns aren't shared by most other people.

Unsure if sarcasm, but lots of people do that. I do it every day.

Some folks enjoy driving.

The heat index on my weather station (in tampa) hit 141f yesterday. I'm in Arizona right now and it feels positively delightful.
